The price has gone up so it's $276 now, which is still a good deal. The only problem is warranty coverage purchase outside US won't cover you with Samsung. Crucial on the other hand is OK I think. I picked up a 250GB M500 for $119 for my htpc, they're even lower now at $109.

Would it be worth going for the 840 Pros for a RAID 0 solution? I'm still undecided for a triple 256gb setup in RAID 0 to use either EVOs or PROs.

Its just for OS and apps, data will be going to an internal 3tb wd black then mirrors to an external 3tb WD drive.

I can not say for the type of ssds, but not raid 0 with 3. I tried that with some scsi drives a few years back. straight out read was excellent, random access, acceptable vs single drive, but doing a copy back to itself in testing and it was like someone had cut them off at the knees.

best stick to just 2 drive raid 0 is my opinion.

my 3xEVO RAID0 array runs fine???

My daily driver can be back up and running in 15mins in the event of anything going awry...there's never anything on it thats not either backed up or expendable ;)

That's pretty awesome value. Crucial have international warranty I believe. I got the 250GB version for $119 last week along with CPU and RAM from Amazon, ETA arrival early next week. If it arrives based on their ETA and on schedule I'll be impressed. I've purchased from them and Newegg back in the day and it always took a while to arrive.

    EDIT:

1TB Samsung 840 EVO SSD $504 AUD Delivered (Amazon US)

Never owned one until the M500 I'm waiting for from Amazon for my HTPC. Reserving goodness for my rig when Devils Canyon comes out, I'm a bit behind the times just catching up now. I'm still on a god damn socket 775.
