I've just received some (not very helpfull) info from A-Data as I've been attempting to find out what controller they use in their SX81 product.
Although they refuse to say, they do mention there's no cache, so I assume that means the JMicron controller.

Below is a copy of their email...

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Thanks for supporting A-DATA product.
Sorry the controller of the product is commerce secret ,so we can not
provide you the relevant information.but you can get the detail of the
product on the website we have supplied to you.
SX81 and S391 don't have cache memory, if you want to buy the product
with cache memory, you can choose S592、X-25M or SX95.
The mainly difference between SX81 and S391 is SX81 have a Mini USB
port, it's more convenient than S391.

Cool, I didn't even realize that that the X... drives existed :) In any case, the SX95 and S592 are definitely Indilinx drives (from the firmware updater and reviews, respectively), but the rest have to be guessed a bit.

What about diagnostic testing SSD's? There doesnt seem to be any tests available I can find for testing the health of the drives. Since now its actually memory companies and not hdd comapnies releasing the drives. How do we test for warranty issues etc? All Ive seen thus far is benching tools.

Just got an email about new SSD/Memory available in Aus ... A-RAM.

One of their SSD series uses the Barefoot controller (PRO) and the 64GB (ARSSD64GBP) is about $50 cheaper than the G.Skill Falcon and the 128GB (ARSSD28GBP) is about a $100!

Their website says the ULTRA is Samsung but not reference to Pro and Alpha.

For that sorta pricing I'm almost tempted to upgrade to 128GB and put my Falcon into my laptop!

No idea, but they look hell tempting.

There is also a 32GB version of the PRO for about $150. Sounds hell tempting for my laptop!

They sure are tempting - they are getting to about the same price I paid for the 36GB raptor which is due for replacement.

Does anyone have any other info or benchmarks on those A-RAM Pro Drives?

    Toshiba's T6UG1XBG?

From the Kingston SSD now V+ thread on Benchmark reviews. The read/write speeds seem to be a lot better than the V series and the listed US prices seem to be on par with the older "V" units. More speed, more room, same price, waiting...
I have been reading about the controller (?) Toshiba's T6UG1XBG here, the first line linked to reads:
    Thoughts anyone?

I read this thread regularly for updates, thanks again oupimiquo for your efforts, would love to see some more from you...
