Oh FRAK yeah! (sorry, couldn't resist)

So many awesome memories playing the WC games when I was a kid. That music track that played when the pilots were scrambling to launch remains one of my all-time faves. Woo hoo!

Indeed they did, however, a joystick was so much better. As a matter of fact I just found my old MS Sidewinder 3D Pro! Now to sort out some hind of usb-gameport adaptor. Or I suppose I could install one of the old Sound Blaster cards I have laying around, wonder if there are gameport drivers for Win7 64....

    BTW - pic

Oh hell yes. This looks awesome, I remember playing WC on my SNES (yeah yeah I know...). The whole addition of First person stuff looks really good. Plus the graphics look incredible. Bring it on

Well, seems like things are going well so far for them... their server/crowdfunding links crashed and burned very quickly (and according to the email i received, they're still down) but they managed 4,564 donations totalling $455,590 on day one. Not a bad ratio of $ per donation!

I put $60 down. I want the really talented guys in the industry make the games they want to make without being controlled by suits. Hopefully it'll shake up the industry and get more quality stuff out the door.

    No.

The Gaming industry is following the film industry in terms of production and funding. It's done. It will not change.

There will be exceptions to the rule (such as this, kickstarter, etc). But i'll be honest, i don't think that Kickstarter will bear much fruit in 2-3 years when some of the big names/pools of money are supposed to land.

Agreed though I think they'd probably play pretty well with a 360/ps3 pad (esp with rumble support).

I'll prob pledge for this, WC2 was the 1st game I ever actually paid money for :)

Nothing wrong with the idea of baiting investors. If there is enough initial interest, the investors are almost certain and he could end up with some serious funding. He certainly has the background to provide a good product.

Looks very awesome. My game collection has been lacking a good space combat sim... Now I will just have to buy a joystick just before it comes out.

In fact, tempted to fire up Starlancer/X-Wing/Tie Fighter now..

I'm really doubting they would be able to finish the game with only 2 mil, looks like a lot of detail is going into the game which means making assets for it would take a huge amount of time.

well the game is already partially done (a ~year or so in?), which is how they are able to show the current build.
id dare say roberts and co have invested a bit of their own money into the project thus far, and need another ~2million to finish it off :)
