Don't forget it's only a beta of the first chapter.
FYI for all the people who do not understand software development cycle properly!
This should give you a clear picture as to where Star Citizen is in the development cycle. HINT still at the beginning and along way from Release Candidate for "production".
8 years in and we're arguing about if it's still alpha or if it's moved to early beta yet. lmao.
Oh damn, I thought there was news on Sq42... haha what the fek was I thinking.
Star Citizen Bashing aside (Which yes i partake in) i am sure there is people in this thread who love it. 3.10 has gone PTU and has massive flight model changes more to the sim than arcade style, along with heaps of new content.
Went with Noobifier over BoredGamer this time, he seems less depressed.
Yeah just peeked my head in. Apparently, I need to come back in 4 more years.
Frankly I don't give a flying fuck if it's not accurately simulated in one seamless environment .
Cheers mate I’ll check back again in another 12months.
Beta is due in 4 years yes. Mr Roberts hasn't scammed enough money from backers to make the jump just yet.
This game has insane scope hence the delays - all I wanted was a new Wing Commander (Squadron 42) if they stuck to that it would have come out years ago.
Yes but also the persistent universe is a pretty sweet "ambition" if it happens. I am more than happy to deal with delays due to the scope blowing out to insane proportions. As long as it doesn't become too big and too long to make it, a fail would suck.
And which year do you think that will happen in? 2016 or 2017?
2014 wasn't it?
4 months ago, CIG promised more regular updates about SQ42 and regular "check ins".
We had no AMAs, no check ins with brian and the team, and nothing "more".
Both 2,500+ upvotes on official reddit..
The game/s will almost definitely never officially ship. By the time this is even remotely close to release quality the technology will be 15-20 years old and need to be rebuilt again - or a competitor will swoop in with all of the promised features already built.
I would hope in the future we at least have competition in the seamless space MMO category, but nothing similar is in development besides duel universe.
Lack of competition might even be a factor in why Chris Roberts doesn't care about when they release it.
One could suggest that until SC is actually released... there are no players in the seamless space MMO category.
Better to say "attempted" seamless space MMO
If only Unreal/Unity made their engine capable of doing it, then we could have all the smaller publishers of great games like space engineers use it.
Although that is nothing like what he has ever said, and is contrary to what he has says. Regardless, they're not competing until you have a product.Meanwhile people are already making a lot of money playing games which aren't Star Citizen, because those games are available. If people would love to play game X but game X isn't available and instead they pay to play game Y, then the makers of game Y are winning.
