Apparently if someone has a non-Steam version of the game, and copies their "live" folder over to a Steam version (aka, replace the live folder under Steam with a non-Steam), it will work perfectly.

So now I'm calling upon anyone with a non-Steam, or re-downloaded Steam version in Melbourne to please let me get the client off you. I wanted to play 4 hours ago :(

Finally figured out a way of getting the Steam backup I had unpacked (since Steam refused to do it), so now I just have to patch. better a ~340mb patch than anything.

If anyone in Melbourne needs the game files because of Steams impotence, I'll be happy to share.

I have just pointed the STO desktop shortcut to the actual game client rather than through steam. Did the trick for me.

To add insult to injury, I can't get this damn thing to download faster than 130KB/s. Been downloading for 9 hours and only up to 85%.

    ARGHHHHHH!!!

That's a kind offer, but it's now up to 93% so only a couple more hours. lol

But if for any reason this download doesn't work, I'll be in touch. :)
