    Makes: 6 - 8 serves

    Cost: Approx $15

Forget running in and out of the kitchen to prepare and check on things.
Along side a nice cold beer, this would have to be the perfect throw together meal whilst you sit back & relax with a few friends / family.

    INGREDIENTS:
    • 2 - 2.5kg of Chicken Wings
    • 750ml Coke
    • 3 tlb soy sauce
    • 1 cup brown sugar
    • 4 cloves fresh grated garlic
    • 1 lemon, zest & juice
    • 1 grated onion
    • Steamed Veggies of choice - Salt & butter to serve

    METHOD:
    1. Set you're Oven / Webber / Egg - 160 deg C

    2. In a bowl mix together the Coke, Onion, Soy, Garlic, lemon & brown sugar until the brown sugar has dissolved.

    3. Cut your Chicken Wings at the joints & discard the 'tip' of the wing (give it to your dogs they will love you)

    4. Place the Chicken Wing pieces into a deep roasting tray and pour over the liquid mixture almost to the top of the chicken.

    5. Bake for 4 hours until the mixture has disappeared and the wings are tender and sticky. Keep an irregular eye on them every hour or so should be fine.

    6. If you have liquid still in the pan after 4 hours, remove the roasting tray and spoon out the liquid then return to cook for 20 - 30 mins.

    7. Place on some veggies in the steamer / pot of boiling water.

    8. Plate it all up on a serving dish, pour over the BBQ sauce listed below to add some further sticky, sweet goodness.

Give this one a go next time you have a group to feed.
It really takes the pressure off the kitchen & smells the entire house with awesomeness!

    **EDIT**

If you want to knock this dish out of the park try making RETARD's 10 min Spicy BBQ Sauce!

    INGREDIENTS:
    • 1/8 cup ketchup
    • 1/8 BBQ sauce & a splash of Worcestershire
    • 3 tablespoons cider or white malt vinegar
    • 3 tablespoons cream or real butter (not marg)
    • 2-3 teaspoons packed brown sugar
    • 1 clove finely chopped garlic
    • 1/8 teaspoon dried thyme
    • few dashes Tabasco sauce
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

try throwing it all in a frypan and cook for 5 to 6 minutes over medium heat to desire thickness

Double it. Triple it according to your dipping needs

Here's some progress pics (pretty simple to follow)

my wife cooks this regularily for me . She cooks it different to retard in that she does it in a pot and takes makybe 30 minutes .

I swear to god this is the nicest way to eat chicken wings . There is no coke taste and the wings are sticky and sweet but not sickly sweet . Love taking leftovers to work for lunch the next day . Meat is soo tender and you almost eat your own fingers when licking them clean after your meal .

Just a side note for those of you that are going to make this.
Make it extra awesome by serving with a dipping bowl of sweet chilli sauce or if you really have big cohunas some sambal oelek.

    They look beautiful...

I am already thinking of a sarsaparilla version - maybe with some fennel in the mix - Yum-o.

A version with Dr.Pepper would also be nice too though somewhat at a premium and it's 750ml I wouldn't be drinking which is not a good thing in my books.

    Yep sounds good to me.
Although as said above you don't really get a 'coke' flavour but more of a sticky sweet flavour.
Let us know how it goes with the fennel too

Id assume that would be from the 100 odd tablespoons of sugar in there :p

I love baked wings, usually do a similar one if im not frying them like kfc.

If you share it with a friend its only about 50 tablespoons of sugar ... which is practically healthy :Pirate:
OR if you like you could use lemonade and make it 200

Wonderful you can take some pictures that actually look good then
you know what they say ... pics or it didn't happen! ;)

    you'll be fine kerr34
    its idiot proof

if you get to the 4 hour mark and there is still too much liquid just spoon out most of it (minus the onions) and give it another 20-30 mins @180C
because at that point all you want to do is reduce it enough to make it turn sticky.

I'm guessing everyone is wanting to hear an opinion other than mine.
We await your summation of this important culinary occasion.

Amazing as usual Retard. Should make this sometime next week. Will put them on top of long chinese noodles though, which is what I normally do with my chicken wing recipes :)

    Will provide pics.
