    Hi,
I purchased some Apple 6 & Samsung 7 replacement charging cables.

The Apple ones are fine, but the Samsung 7 one's both don't fit & look different to my original.

I'm interested in knowing what this connection type is, google lens is failing me...

I thought that as well, but it's not reversible.

That angle isn't terribly helpful, could you give one that shows the shape of the connector?

If I had to guess I'd say MicroUSB, but that's the most common connector on the planet and surely you'd have seen one before...

it appears to be a micro usb. they are not reversable.
you may be thinking of the rounder USB-C which is reversable.

Sorry about the closeup photography, it's not great.

The white cable is the original Samsung S7 cable, the other the replacement.

The "original" (I don't think it is?) appears to be a nasty hack of a cable - a modified micro-USB connector made to be reversible. You can buy such things, but I don't think Samsung ever shipped one with a device, they're non-standard and can't be labelled as USB compliant.

The new cable is a normal micro-USB cable. It should fit the charging port on your Samsung Galaxy S7 just fine, because that's the kind of connector it was designed for!

looks like USBC to micro usb (maybe??), uncommon but not unheard of, handy for charging off laptops and stuff.

I'm fairly sure the white one is the one that I got when I bought it (brand new, telstra).

Think this shot is a bit clearer.

Edit - attached another picture to show that these are two different cables, both have a standard usb 2.0/3.0 on the other end.

I've found a proper camera (not phone), even though it's old it's taking more detailed pictures.

The pins on the new cable (dark) are recessed, although the overall shape is similar. It's also longer (top view).

Might be a cheap nasty filthy copy of a micro usb connector. It looks the same but if you
say it doesn't fit then it's definitely a shit copy. Bin the bastard and stick to reputable brands.

Also, make sure the usb jack in your phone isn't full of pocket lint and dust. If it is, the longer knock off cable will not make contact.

Definitely not going to force it. Purchased a portable car battery charger not long ago, which doubles as a mobile charger & it's usb fits just fine, along with an older normal mobile charger battery pack & cable.

Just intrigued to what it actually fits.

Alternatively, my old cable & phone have been together too long & 'mated', and the other cables are just easy.....

There are some weirdo small usb plugs that camera manufacturers have loved to use from time to time, but as far as I know Samsung has only used normal ports in their phones.

Maybe the factory plug in the phone is a shallow one, and they have made up a munted version of the cable so it doesn't look as though the plug is half attached when charging.
