If you've clicked on to see photos of felines then Sorry

No.. this is where there are some photos of the band "The Stray Cats" who are touring Aus after a 18 year absence

First up though are two photos of the Bass player from the Support band ( The Satellites ).

    #1 Support band Bass player
    [IMG]

#2 Support band Bass player ( My Favourite from the night ). Took a burst when he came down and leant his double bass over right in front of where I was and the lighting behind was perfect
    [IMG]

#3 Lee Rocker ( Stray cats - Bass player )

    #4 Brian Setzer ( Stray cats - Guitarist )

    #5 Slim Jim Phantom
    [IMG]

#6 Wide view of the whole band
    [IMG]

    #7 The appreciative Crowd
    [IMG]

Still lots lots to sort through and upload

C&C welcome although I must say the 24-70 on a 5D is a nice combo for this type of shoot

Great shots, just a shame the S is cut off in number 6, tray cats!

This is one type of photography I'd like to get into, is the 24-70 2.8?

Good stuff, 2 and 3 are great

I'm jealous of the lighting you normally get...I guess that is the difference between club gigs and bigger ones.

Yep the Canon 24-70 F/2.8 that I got off the forums here from Pharcyde84 a few weeks back. First time I've used it in anger. I had my 70-200 F/2.8 with me also but didnt need it as they played really close to stage front

Trust me there have been shows where the lighting has been crap and there are a few venues that I dont even bother putting my name down for anymore as I know all the photos will be pretty rubbishy due to the lighting

Wow I love this band, although Brian Setzer looks like he's getting on a bit in the years. Number 2 would have to be my favorite followed closely by #3.

#1 and #2 are my picks - The B&W really makes the bass standout in teh first one, and the lighting is fantastic in the second.

Tell me. How loud were they. The second last time I saw them, my ears were ringing for a week. The punks has taken over the area closest to the stage so it was the survival of the fittest. I will be seeing them this friday at the forum. I will do my best to take my camera with me.

BTW what iso and shutter do you usually use. I tend to stick to 125th. Normally I shot B&W film, so I shoot at 3200 or 6400. I have shot at 12800 for the fireballs, but that was too grainy. This will be my first go using digital.

They didnt seem overly loud. That said I use Etyrmotic Ear plugs that reduce the SPL at gigs these days since my ears already have some damage from my youth and I dont need any more ringing. Had the plugs out a few times though and it was nowehere near as loud as some acts Ive been to.

    All photos taken at ISO 1600. Most at 1/160th -> 1/200 at F/2.8 -> F/4
I just shoot in Manual and adjust on the fly if they turn on some mega bright lights

To everyone else that commented so far - Thanks
I was pretty stoked with that 2nd shot

well i rocked up ready and rearing to go and they searched bags and I had my camera taken off me. I had my lens in my sisters bag so when they found by 50d body only I said "I just bought it this afternoon. Its useless without a lens" they said "Sorry Sir, come with me!"
Well, the bloke next to video taped the whole show, and every second person had their own "smaller" digital camera snapping away like crazy.
Damn I am spewing. The lighting was perfect. Anywayz. Great show except for Brian having sprained his ankle. I will post later one shot I took before the camera was taken away.
