This game is starting to look a bit like vaporware...
Nah. The folks behind it don't produce crap. They take as long as they need, and release when it's ready.
This will happen.
1) Platforms confirmed - PC, Switch, PS4, XBOne.
2) Release date not confirmed, but "aiming for next year" (2020).
3) A new character has been announced - Cherry Hunter. Daughter of Adam Hunter from SOR1 (which makes her the niece of Eddie "Skate" Hunter from SOR2).
Look closely and you'll recognise Shiva in this clip (second in command bad guy from SOR2, and unlockable playable character from SOR3). Turn up the music on this one too! Music by Motohiro Kawashima.
Background art suggests there's two more characters to go. At least one is likely a tank - a Max/Zan cyborg type?
I’m going to be too old and arthritic to play it at this rate...
Looks like she picked up some moves from her uncle and I love the power chord knee slide.
But sheesh, 2020? Better to be released when its ready though.
Blaze will always be my girl though.
Her and Tyris Flare need (non-shit) sequels to everything, stat.
One thing that's dawned on me about this newest trailer is the hit stun has changed. The hit stun in the very first trailer seemed shorter (more like SOR3), and this new one appears to make it "meatier" and longer like in SOR2.
That's a good thing for me (I preferred SOR2 to SOR3). Hopefully it feels as good on release.
More gamescon gameplay footage. You can see some of the juggle mechanics in action (even between characters where player 1 knocks the character into player 2 who can keep the combo going).
It's not in this trailer, but it looks like this game has team up moves (grab your partner and throw them, and they'll launch into a flying attack).
This stage looks like a cross between Chun Li's from Street Fighter, and the Hong Kong stage from Final Fight 2.
Lots of old bad guys returning, which is great. Shiva has an interesting "astral projection" kind of attack which is cool. I really hope he's an unlockable again.
"Late afternoon" warm colours are a new theme for the franchise, which has traditionally been set in evenings with a cooler colour palette.
Love that there is a new game coming but would have preferred if they took the Sonic Mania approach to the graphics - make the game look like a high-end 2D Sega Saturn game with a pixel art style instead of the cartoon approach
PAX West footage. Same level 6 again, but showing off more features like weapon throw/catch mechanics and better enemy juggling.
I feel the same way but the new art style is definately growing on me the more I see of it.
I'm a massive fanboy of the artist: http://www.benfiquet.com/
More PAX West footage, this time showing off stage 1 (and a *terrible* Blaze player).
Lots of background elements from SOR1 stage 1. Also a clear nod to Final Fight's first stage as well (underground subway portion).
Very cool. A lot of nods to it's predecessors - The Headbutt Corps and Two P & J "clones" made me laugh a little.
Can't wait to have a go.
