Subnautica is an underwater survival game set on an alien planet that is currently available through Early Access. Your ship, the Aurora, has been struck by a mysterious energy pulse and you have been forced to crash land on an unknown alien planet. You are the only survivor after managing to escape in a life pod which has landed in the world's ocean and know you must find food and water to survive.

While it is only single player at the moment, Unknown Worlds have said that it will be the first priority after they have built a solid single player experience. most probably after v1.0

I'll be keeping an eye on this one for sure, great steam reviews so far for a EA game.

Same guys who made Natural Selection 2. I like the dynamic environment in that you can keep digging the sea floor. Like Red Faction. Probs will only get it when it goes on sale.

Well I decided to pull the trigger on this last night and it was thoroughly enjoyable. At this early stage I don't know how many hours you could get from it but I am not too fussed on that as it is just to keep me busy till GTAV comes out.

Grabbed this yesterday while on Steam sale... Loving it.

Great looking survival, horror, crafting & construction game.
I did not know about it earlier, but recent updates have added plenty of content to make this worth purchasing now. No need to wait for release. Has been very stable with no show stopping bugs.

tried in early access and got lost, no idea how to progress further. But watching reviews it might be worth getting into now.

Have fun with the FPS drops to like <30fps cos that's a dealbreaker for me.

I've been watching a streamer (annemunition) play it and the fps counter was dropping to as low as the mid 20s to 120fps with loads on stuttering and hitching....urgh!

Some ppl can ignore it but I can't.

I have been playing it for just over a week and the only stuttering I get (maybe 1-2 secs) is IF I dive into water, otherwise it is fine.

    Running on a i5-3550, 16GB Ram, GTX 1060 3GB, Win 10.

Just as there are plenty of people who are unwilling to spend 30 minutes finding a playable setup for their rig, not to mention those expecting to run it on specs below the minimum.

I'm on a 670 setup (SLI, but this game runs far worse on SLI) and it runs fine thanks to my CPU. That is what it's primarily dependent on. CPU, not GPU.

EDIT: For the record, i7 3770k. OC via intel speed step alone.

hopefully a quick question: is Subnautica dependent on always online connection? Am thinking about picking it up so I can play when I'm at work and it's quiet via offline steam, but need something that isn't dependent on always online connection. Did some searching last night but couldn't find any definitive answers, or my fatigue is seriously messing with me more than I realise. Just received my new dell 7577 so it definitely meets requirements.

    Works fine in steam offline.
Really enjoyed many plays with it, and spent ages building some large bases. Has been toned down a bit from a few builds ago, but still keeps for the most part fear when you are heading to many locations.
Also have not really noticed many slowdowns etc, a few now and then mainly when entering/exiting a large self made base, but really apart from that non that I really notice, and running it @4K (7700-1080Ti).

Really great to see any early access hit launch. Only wish would be for limited co-op play, Mp will never happen as per very early on Dev decision/announcement, however 4-6 co-op with scaled challenges would have been something I know myself a bunch of mates would have enjoyed. Overall thou - solid enough to lose many hours in :).
