My wife speaks very very highly of the vegie bar in brunswick st - i've only been there once but it was rather good.

as for in the CBD? not really sure, can't think of anything that is strictly vegetarian, let alone vegan.

White Lotus is supposed to be a good restaurant in the city but I haven't been

Best to ask some people in a vegan group like Vegan's Unite for first-hand experiences

You know what they say - show me a vegan man and I'll show you a man trying to sleep with a vegan chick

as long as you're only trying to sleep with her - go for it - then bail

Yeah, they actually have a very good business model going with that. While you would expect many people to stinge it and leave them running at a loss.. most people when put in a group of their friends/peers do not want to look like tight bastards and hence.. pay up pretty well. (doubt it would work well in Penrith :p)

That and for the most part.. the food is v.good.

I find it quite a mix, I have some mates who rarely put in anything, others who eat like <$5 of food then put in $30. I usually just put in $10-20 depending what I have on me, a couple times I have put in nothing when I was in extreme poor student stages. Then when I got money I put in $50 one night to clear my conscience. I'd be interested to hear what the average donation is!

Last time I was down that way St Kilda wasn't open any more or I could have been seeing things.

SoulMama is alright and moroccan soup bar is worth a visit as well.
