Hi all, I'm trying to do a Windows 10 clean install on Surface Pro 4.

This happened when I tried to use the Microsoft Surface Recovery Image which failed. Then I tried to use a Windows 10 bootable usb to do a clean install but this is the image I'm receiving below.

I have also used GParted and it can't recognise the SSD, is the SSD dead?

I would say that is very likely, yes. If it's a surface pro 4 it should still be under warranty (otherwise try to enforce your statutory right of repair with MS directly).

Silly question - but does the Surface still boot normally? Just checking as you only mentioned you tried to install a clean Windows 10, but no mention of whether it was working before this.

I've tried diskpart recognises the hard drive but the capacity says 0.

Surface was working before but it was stuck in a boot loop, the reason why I wanted to do a clean install/recovery.

I have sent the surface for repair under warranty, I'm pretty sure the SSD is toast or there's a hardware fault somewhere else.
