Ok people, this is all just an interest check at this stage but here is what I'm thinking.

Wanting to do a semi regular Fighting Game meetup in Sydney, looking at 1989 as the venue.
-This will mean it's 18+ because they are a bar.
-It will also mean that the event would need to be paid entry because a bar in Newtown consuming electricity isn't free. It wouldn't be much (have to negotiate with the Bar owner) and games will be freeplay obviously.

-Looking to play fighting games on original hardware.
-I can supply some of my gear for a bit and Ben might look at getting a Darksoft CPS2 kit. Would be good if other people could bring things too.
-Ben is in the process of renovating a new area to expand into and he will have at least 1 horizontal candy cab and several other LAI style cabinets.
-He has a 4 slot neo geo big red cabinet too for the neo geo games.
-We could do an Undamned supergun style setup with USB to JAMMA converters so people could bring their own controllers and play on RGB monitors.
-If we do tournaments we could absolutely direct capture/stream/youtube them.
-Looking to make it monthly as I don't think I'd have the time to do it more frequently than that.

How much interest would there be for such a thing?

    Edit:
Open to suggestions for games people would want.
Super Turbo is obviously my choice but I have access to just about anything anyone might want on CPS2/NeoGeo or Naomi

This has been on my to do list for ages..

There's a few people on arcade-projects too that wants to do this

For me, it's an absolute hike to get there being in Western Sydney.

One day, I'll do it after work.

Since you're pretty local, you should enter the super turbo comp they're going to have in April

I'd do my best to come along, due to work i'm not always in state or country but i do have some stuff i could bring to help out and usually i can confirm ahead of time once the date is known. Mostly i'd be willing to bring jamma game boards, I've got a SFII CE board, a spare neogeo MV1b with 161-in-1 and i do have a darksoft CPS2 kit too.

Are we allowed to talk about it?

The last few times I've been to Melbourne, we've swung by the Golden Fleece hotel, to play their pinball machines, I'd love something similar to that :)

Yep, Vlad won. Was a great night, have some awesome quality capture. Tired now, gonna collapse in a heap.

EDIT: I also need to read labels so I know I am hammering down 8% alcohol content ciders.

Yep, there I am bottom right of the projector staring into the laptop, updating brackets and such. We had a 32 player bracket and it was full but someone went MIA so I got to sub in. Got knocked out in the first round by Hugo who came second overall.

Man I gotta do a blog post about the way we did the video capture. Sneek has an old arcade shock device that site between the jamma edge and the pcb that outputs buffered RGB, we fed that to an OSSC and from that a HDMI splitter to the projector and my capture card. Looks awesome.

I'd love to get involved in this, sadly I am not in town enough to even make this once every 3 months. Freaking awesome idea though. Jealous as fuck! :D
