They look amazing! I'm currently preparing for a tournament in Albury on the longweekend, and have been in a painting frenzy just to get paint on them.

Managed to knock out another one this weekend, seems like it takes me forever to paint lately.

Picked up a second hand plague surgeon. Decided to do a slightly different approach with painting to see how it would go and use stippling. It worked well with a vehicle but I don't think so much with the main body armour on something so small.

Painted a worldeaters slaughterbound, paid more attention to basing for this one and nudged a little further into the grimdark style, looking forward to doing some eighbound I'm a similar way. Made a little black box out of scrap to try and get some better photos too, not bad, but there's only so much you can do with a phone camera and no skill.

I love the pre-heresy World Eaters colour scheme done in a grimdark style. They are one of my two favourite heresy era legions beside Space Wolves. I'm reasonably confident you have seen it but just in case check out Grimdark Compendium: https://www.youtube.com/@GrimdarkCompendium.

Yep you're correct. I followed grimdark compendium for a few years just using the odd technique from them but lately I've been leaning pretty heavily into them for ideas and inspiration, they have assembled some excellent artists under their banner.

The style grew on me pretty quickly, and it's more fun for me, using less precision and working with more texture and tone to tell a bit of a story.

And I gotta agree the heresy worldeaters scheme is one of my favourites, that colour scheme was the reason I started collecting them, I saw some berzerkers on reddit painted all grimey and was like hell yeah.

Edit: I just joined their discord group, damn they have some amazing painters in there.

Myphitic Blight-hauler done. Didn't think about the base much and realised I couldn't do much once I attached it post painting. Might use some sepia ink and UHU glue to add globs of scum.

I need to work out how to do dead foliage. Grass tufts are easy to come by but decaying plant matter not so much.

It looks suitably grimey, I love this colour scheme for death guard... I especially like the maw/pincers and your work on the lens!

The base doesn't leave a whole lot of area to work with with how much the minis cover the base... my immediate thought is some muddy/swampy patches maybe using some twine or something fibrous to create some disgusting looking ground based roots growing from them or something, all depends on your vision.

I've been looking around at stuff and specifically coloured lichen will work for what I want. It looks like large gross fungus as this scale.

Think I might have mixed my "scales" up

It's supposed to be 25in scale? right?

Massive mix up. It's 25 feet, not inches.

More seriously though that statue is 11/10 would buy again. A+++
