Looking for some interesting board games to play: any good ones? I had heard about this game below: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/158978099X/amazon0b53-20/ and that sounds like fun.
My favourite other than the Monoploy and Jumanji board game is For Sale. The aim of the game is to buy as many real estates and sell them out for profits. The player with the most amount of profit wins the game. Have a look: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/172/for-sale
Interesting games with eye candy: Khet Really fun board game with a lot of strategy, has won a few awards It involves laser and mirrors, those words alone will win over most nerds
I use to also play this board game while I was back in primary school called Risk which was really fun in my opinion. It's an interesting board game, have a read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Risk_(game)
Oh yeah, how could I forget about Risk Spent many an hour playing it, think I must've been 4 years old or something when I first played it.
depends how many people, how long you want to play for, how much randomness you want... carcasson, settlers of catan, risk, dominion, agricola (EPIC game, tajes ages and way too much to do), pandemic (co-op game against a NPC virus... pretty fun), smallworld is like mini risk, ticket to ride, aqcuire... pretty much http://www.boardgamegeek.com/browse/boardgame
Catan is the best game of all time Many expansions once you've mastered the original, and just great fun! Needs 3+ people though.
Risk is awesome, i remember a game i played years ago called rat race which i don't believe was too bad. The best game i play now though is Descent: Journeys In The Dark, it's similar to D&D just (imo) a lot better.
oh i remember playing that game and it took forever too! but now i've forgotten how to play it even though i have it sitting in the garage somewhere.
Risk is ok but these days there are better games out there. As somebody already mentioned, check out boardgamegeeks.com. It's a great community to find out about board games and game designers hang out there as well. Recently, I've been playing pandemic a lot. fantastic co-op game. Managed to finish the hardest mode with 1 challenge with 5 players. If you like risk-like war games, then apparently starcraft the board game and battlestar galactica the board game are pretty epic. Catan is good for beginners.
catan is like pot (according to the anti-smoking lobby anyway), great gateway drug. starcraft and BSG indeed are epic games, both take hours and can be a bit slow. the only game of BSG I played to the end took over 3 hours IIRC.
from the review, i certainly wouldnt mind this as a boardgame, as long as you have folk that want to play it with you : http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2010/08/arkham-horror-may-not-be-easy-but-it-sure-is-great.ars
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/browse/boardgame A pretty good source of games ranked by board game geeks, I have found many in the top 100 to be a lot of fun. Really depends on who you are playing with and what you are in the mood for. Bang! not strictly a board game and not in the top 100 but fun with a large group.
