So gloomhaven came in today, box itself is nearly 10kg...

Can't wait to give it a shot on the weekend.

Can you not just charge it back on your credit card? I have done that a few times on eBay purchases with no problem when the item was not as described.

I've never tried that. Maybe I should, especially after I expressed dissatisfaction to them and their massively useful and informative response of 'No thanks.'.

Your credit card company will likely have a process that you follow. Detail your situation, specifically in what way it isn't what they said it was and how you have tried to sort it out and do a statutory declaration. Credit Card company will do the rest.

Has anyone played Notre Dame? It's a decent price on Amazon US at the moment. I ordered Castles of Burgundy yesterday too after getting a lightning offer through Amazon US.

And we ended up gifting the second box of the wrong version of Carcassonne.

I haven't played Notre Dame but its meant to be good from what I have read.
How much was CoB? I have been looking at getting that game when the price is right but damn that game just looks ugly to me!

My group just finished scenario 2 on Gloomhaven. What a fantastic game. Can't wait to continue playing it.
I just love the multi use card play

Picked up Kingdomino and Betrayal at House on Hill over the holiday's.

I can see why Kingdomino won GOTY. It's simple yet addictive as hell.

Betrayal I've been wanting to get for ages. It's a lot of fun with a good group. Especially if they're also into campy horror tropes.

    Is Kingdomino better than Carcassone?

Two completely different games. Though the mechanics are kind of similar I guess (matching tiles?).

Kingdomino is very quick to play and doesn't really have the randomness (or complexity) that Carcassone can have.

I'm keen to give Queendomino a crack as that's suppose to have a greater level of strategy/complexity added.

It came down to about 19 USD so it's about 40 AUD shipped. Agreed, from what I've seen it doesn't seem to be the best presented game. I'm hoping the game play compensates haha

I hadn't heard of it so it sounds like one to look into. Thanks

My copy finally arrived yesterday! I'm torn between wanting to dive straight in and waiting till I can get a storage solution, whether it be a proper solution or something based of Y.A.S.S.

Yeah, I've actually backed that, looking forward to when it arrives. Definitely expensive though.
That said I was thinking more in terms of the game components itself. I spent half a day trying to get the plano boxes for YASS. but the shop didn't have them in stock. In the end I got a bunch of containers at bunnings and improvised.

Finally got my first game of it in last week. I think we made it harder then it needed to be since we didn't really pick any strength types, but once we started getting a handle on our abilities it was fun. We won the scenario on our last possible turn.

Great game for the start of the gaming night as everyone is arriving or after the Rolemaster session when some people want to sit around and talk about what happened. The Imploding Kittens expansion is also good fun.

Have you tried any of the "modern" type games?
    To name a few of the classic intro games;
    Ticket to Ride
    Pandemic
    Settlers of Catan
