The latest tabletop ep has wil playing Pandemic....that looks fun...anyone in sydney that knows how to play this game let me know cos i want to give this game a try!
I was checking out games chain up in chatswood and the staff said there's some groups that meet up during the week in chatswood to play board games. thinking of looking it up and checking it out if i am free.
Check out boardgamegeek.com . Most board game groups should have a guild on BGG or you could do a member search by region and find someone hopefully nearby who'd be interested in playing some games with you.
hmmm...considering video games are getting bland...co-op board games seems to be something interesting!
I really like Co-op boardgames. Play some Pandemic, Castle Ravenloft, Defenders of the Realm, Elder Sign or Arkham Horror. All good fun cooperative games.
i've only seen pandemic and eldersign being played on tabletop. it's a good show cos it shows the game's mechanics at play and helps makes more sense but i still would like more seasoned players to help out.
I run a local tabletop gaming club and play in a regular social group (I'm in QLD though sorry). Best advice I can give you is watch a rules primer for whatever you're going to play before you get together with friends. If everyone in the group does that at least you all have some idea of the rules. Pandemic and Elder Sign rules aren't too bad really.
Went to a board game night recently, and while I don't have much experience with them, I had heaps of fun. We played a couple of rounds of Small World, which is kind of like Risk, but not as complicated. We also played a coop game called Forbidden Island I think. You're on a sinking island and you have to go around it to get 4 pieces of treasure and then get out. That was good fun, and you can bump up the difficulty as well by raising the starting water level.
Depends on what kind of people you have playing. Can take a very long time to play. Ticket to ride (start with europe) Smallworld (quick, fun strategy) Risk 2210 (the best variant in my opinion). Le havre Catan Puerto Rico (or San Juan) Power grid
