Hiyas, so I have 2 young boys who are car obsessed and of late its all been Monster trucks.

So after looking around I decided to go and buy a Tamiya Blackfoot (2016).. I guess I remember the Frog etc from when I was a kid and thought they'd love it.

Anyway got the kit today and realised that I need to buy a Radio/Servo/ECS and Battery/Charger.

Now as its for kids that are both below 4 I dont want to spend a fortune and was wondering what sort of money I should be spending on this? I picked up the kit for $230 (cheapest on ebay was $270)..

I can get a Tamiya set for $200 odd from Japan

but wondering if I can get away with something cheaper locally? I know servo is very important so can always get a cheaper radio as no doubt the kids will break it..

Any suggestions? LOL looks like I have 4-5 hours assembly and then paint so its bigger than I anticipated!

Thanks, all sorted - I actually bought the Tamiya kit for $160 from ebay and then ended up asking for refund and went locally.

Got a Futaba S3010 Servo , Futaba Radio & Receiver PSK2 something, and a 5000Mah battery and charger.

The kit on ebay only had a 1800Mah batter and the servo was actually pretty weak (3kg vs 7kg).

Anyway now for the building part!

I know this thread is old but did you have any photos of the Blackfoot assembled? I love the old Tamiya kits.

My brother and I built a Tamiya Blackfoot and Blitzer Beetle for Christmas, so I've got some recent pictures:
