it's a shame we couldn't have pretested hardware.Things would have been VERY different if that was the case

i know that CPU was good but we needed to test it out on cold to know where the cold bug is exactly and we made a mistake letting kayl and others poor in LN2 into the pot. James clearly showed his experience when he took over at the end. He was managing the pot temps to around -110 to -120C with really nice consistent pours but we just assumed that's where the temps were................we may have gone futher who knows

our CPU temps in speedfan were really hot so i think we were overeager to shove volts mainly because of time constraints. We needed to start slowly and built it up a bit>>> i think it takes time to actually get the base at the right temps and i don't know whether the pot we used was appropriate for LN2 as the temps were erratic.....maybe a more solid base would have made the job somewhat easier

but i am happy we did that for the first try and didn't kill anything either :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Never done Ln2 before so was new to pouring and keeping a constant temperature. After my ice incident I was trying to keep temps between -70c and -100c to ensure we never hit the cold bug. From my cascade experience and Q6700’s I found that the difference between -70c and -100c isn’t that much, its more what volts ya pump into it. 1.7vocre is nice but 1.8 1.85v will get you closer to WR’s. So my goal was to find the max oc with high volts and -70c and -100c temps , then once we found that try and keep constant -110c to -120c and clock away.
When you hit the cold bug the system crashes and you have to start all over again which is a pain.

Quad cores have never read die temps properly, I have had 2 quad cores now, the first one never went below 0c (die temps), the second one never went below -10c which is what SLi_dog has also found with his QX6700. Even on single stage coolers and -30c I have the same results with die temps, they need to correct their lookup talbe for below 0c.
The main advantage with a sold copper tube is that it holds load better. The base temps of both a brazed tube and a solid copper tube would be the same. You will still need to balance the temps buy slowly topping up the tubes with Ln2. Which is a real art specially with 1.85v on a quad core. This is why ppl use cascades instead as temps are constant at the flick of a switch ;)

    i agree kayl

it was just time we needed and with some more experience anyone of us will be able to push the hardware to limits :D

experience=good thing :D whether good or bad :D:D:D:D

yes its bloody annoying how My Q6600 wont read die temps..

you all did a good show anyway no matter what the results where..

I thought for sure you would of bought a Known cpu with u all the same..

    Cheers Hori
