Worried about someone pinching your car? Try this.
A Tesla coil on top of a real performance machine (a Hyundai Getz).
I hired it overnight as I don't own a car.
Details here. This is a 31 second single exposure and is not photoshopped in any way.
My son, Michael, is quite safe in there even if he is a little unsure.

This follows from the related thread about the "Eye of Sauron" and the "Aura of Sauron"

...though 3 seconds later, when the time-space vortex opened, he disappeared in a blinding flash of light and was instantly transported through hyperspace to Epsilon Carinae 9 where he is now the sole male on a planet full of amazon women.

Just don't let the hire company see those images. They'd never let you near one of their cars ever again.

Gee, some of us have all the luck.:weirdo:

I don't know much about the whole tesla coil thing, but these posts are getting better and better. Was there any damage to the car from the arcs?

Well, topgear hit a volkswagon golf (I think) with 600 000 volts or so, didn't do any damage at all, so I'm guessing the car should be fine.

In other news I'm moving to wherever this guy lives :D

    Best guy ever.

These threads are too good for the science forum, can we keep them in the pub for all to enjoy?

No. Consider this proof of why you should venture out of The Pub more often. There's lots of cool stuff in the other forums. :)
