many people buy specific foods that attract more tickets, and also larger portions to get more tickets.

look i love maccas, but blind freddy can see it's a gambling promo.

Now if Maccas instead sold it as.

Would you like large fries with that for $2 or would you like large fries and some prize tickets for $3, that would be loot boxing.

Because people are idiots and didn't listen in maths class. It's taxation with an intelligence bias.

It'd be interesting to see the profits for some of these games. You could argue that loot boxes can lower the base cost of the game (or even make it free, like if Fortnite had loot boxes instead of cosmetics?) but if it was the difference between pulling in a $1b a year gross profits, and $800M a year gross profits, would hardly hold up.

I'm maybe a bit more divided on lootboxes and P2W now. Went back to World of Warcraft because some of my friends did. Some play 2-4 hours a day, I get on maybe every 3rd or 4th day from 30 mins to 2 hours tops. Had the choice of spending that time "farming", or going bugger it, pay $25 and solve all my farming issues (By buying all materials for crafting and shit from the Auction House) and actually enjoy the activities I want to play without worrying about farming to get the kit I need as I level. Easy choice for me. I get to keep level with my mates without the daily grind.

they significantly lower ROI - even further than it was already lowered.

I also liked this video from Jim.

But black ops 3 made 1billion with out look boxes (not saying it's a great game, but the franchise was doing so well it made 1billion in sales in like a week)

Pretty sure fifa makes a billion dollars a year or something from it's transactions. E.A made 5 billion dollars last year

Imagine how much they'd make WITH loot boxes. That's the only thing floating around the boardroom at EA. There's no such thing as "enough revenue".
