    Gentle Alarm.

Just about the best alarm app you can have. Doesn't give you a heart attack when it goes off.

    The good:

ASTRO - File searching on SDcard

BeyondPro - Podcast downloading / listening

Newsroom - RSS feeds (best I found)

ES task manager - kills processes I don't use

    The bad:

Snesoid - Is absolutely shit, like every game on a touch screen device. They are so finicky and the controls always fail in quick movements. Playing Mario is horrible since every 2nd jump misses. Same with simple games like FF3.

Every media player, it's probably the phone but they all lag / go out of sync / have horrid touch responses.

is there an app for ANZ bank like the IPhone?

This feature is kinda cool and would be great for the desire im looking into, rather not be like the crowd and get an iphone to use that app.

Is there a good one for podcasting Hamish and Andy? All the podcasting apps out there that I have seen, dare I say it, just dont work as well/easily as iTunes :Pirate:

Also I think "Where's my droid" is pretty cool. Helps you find your phone, as the name suggests

www.netbank.com.au/mobile pretty much behaves like an app!

Some of these cost money, but well worth it.

    Cool games:
    Abduction!
    Armored Strike
    World War
    Paper Toss

    Cool apps:
    3 (Cubed) MP3 player
    Advanced Task Killer
    Astro (File Explorer)
    Barcode Scanner
Cardio Trainer - GPS tracking of your runs, can use G-Sensor to count cadence on the treadmill, race against yourself is awesome!
ES File Explorer (explore Samba shares)
Gentle Alarm (has a pre-alarm that quietly tries to wake you into a lighter stage of sleep half an hour before you wake up!)
Google Goggles - search for things by taking a photo
    GPS Status
List Master Pro (has voice recognition for ultra-fast list creation)
Shazam - recognises songs for you!
    Titanium Backup
    Wireless Tether
Y5 Battery Saver (turns WLAN on/off depending on the cell info from the network provider).

    Edit:

    Live Wallpapers
    Seeds of Life
Shake Them All! *best* *wallpaper* *ever*. Just awesome how it interacts with the G-Sensor :)

Tried both and neither just have the full freaking podcast... or I'm just blind, but I would think "hamish and Andy" as a search wouldn't be too complicated for it to find

I did find their minicast which although a step in the right direction, cueing up a new cast every 3 minutes could be bothersome while driving. :tired:

i used to use that one until i discovered it was dropping sms messages from my phone.

i was using the dalvik debug monitor to take some screen shots.
the monitor also displays info on what the phone is doing, as you do it.

i was watching the info and noticed that it was reporting that a text message came in and then where is my droid intercepted the message to see if it contained the key words and then it let the message continue.
i noticed that sometimes a message would come in and it would be intercepted, but then i wouldn't actually receive the message.
    it was just dropped.

I use DoggCatcher - I did a quick search in it for "Hamish Andy" and it came back first time with the right podcast. It costs a seven bucks, but I've been very happy with it over time I've been using it. The dev is also very active in bringing out new versions and is quick to respond to bugs/feature requests.

Ouch, have just uninstalled where's my droid based on this, not a particularly helpful bug - don't know if it's been occurring to me, but would rather not find out. Thanks looktall.

    Notepad

Ok once again comparing to iphone, but lets face it they don't make a half bad phone.. Anyway... something similar to notepad? I used to use it all the time for work and uni, now i can't find anything similar. Need to be able to have topics for notes etc. Just think about all the things the Apple app can do.. thats what I need.. Thoughts?

Easy note and AKnote both are not too bad for just jotting down stuff.
Does Google Goggle work well? I can't find them, most likely cos I'm still on CupCake.

Handscent is great. pop up messaging notifications, quick send, quick reply, a few more features... very good..

but has anyone noticed that android standard message program also shows unread message, despite opening handscent first?

Seems that they don't talk to each other

I wanted drkarl podcast and couldn't find it anywhere the way I got it working was to browse (on the phone) to the page of the podcast and click on the rss feed. The phone then asks how you want to open it and choose your pdcast app.
