tried 2 keyboards, different ports, i have encountered this before but no idea why.

I see it's fixed but PS2 keyboards can still be handy on older systems. Sometime USB KB won't let you use the any key.

Yeah never had much luck with those adaptors in the clean install scenario. Got stuck trying to install W7 recently on a machine that couldn't cope with 10 and kicked myself for tossing that old keyboard.

You just need a keyboard with the proper key set that includes the Any key:

usually part of a DLC/upgrade kit.

Isn't this what usb legacy support was for? did you check that option in the bios?

Doesent always work. I have booted off a USB with legacy mode enabled only to not be able to navigate the (generally older) windows setup with KB and mouse.

i didnt look, but i never had to any other time, it booted off usb fine as it doesnt ask for the "ANY KEY" but now its gone, i have thoughts
the usual keyboard used as a 2nd is a old logitech with like the space ship from "arrival" on the other end of usb cable, this makes the keyboard "wireless"
in a mad panick my "mate" pulled my usb keyboard from main rig
it didnt work either, & now, doesnt work at all. i guess we will never know.

Gotta say...this has certainly happened to me...most recently about 9 days ago trying to retrieve lost data on an XP system with a Gigabyte GA- 8I865GVMK + Intel C2D E6320.

Truly a P.I.T.A. situation; but I did have long kept PS2 keyboard to remedy the issue...but weird that the USB Mouse still worked without any problem!

i stuck a paperclip down the side of da Fn key, then volume keys work with 1 hit, but the w key started putting out a ' instead of w, stupid thing.
