Sadly got whacked with a $450 customs clearance fee (before additional broker fee) on the second lot of 3x Axe++'s from Ali, GG

Must've been missed the first time around

Customs fee? Aliexpress takes GST, so you shouldn't have to pay a customs fee as well?

Yeah for this store after you enter more than a quantity of 3 the GST fee disappears so it becomes far cheaper, assuming they just paid it the first time around - it's also why we started ordering that many

Until this second time that is lol.

a quick question or those with a clue, i have jujst installed umbrel on a new nuc i have, its only got a 120gb ssd, figured id run a cut down version of the block chain. It installed the bitcoin core, and bitcoin knots, are these two seperate things or do i need to sync both, had to setup one for 40gb and the other for 50gb so i dont run out of space. Also noticed its downloading a shit ton faster than my gigabyte brix ever did..

Just one. Bitcoin Knots is bitcoin core, just a different fork I think. I only installed knots on mine. I don't know the real difference, pros/cons, I just saw a tutorial on self hosting so followed it.

well my original btc node has finally finished syncing today so ive jjust pointed my two gammas to it, jjust use the btc core and the pumblic pool app on stratum and thats it, nothing else installed.. (have setup a differect wallet instead of going directly to my swyftx should i hit a block. (i dont have a cold storage wallet as i dont really have much crypto but have setup an electrum wallet. Looks good enough for my needs.

Fired up Umbrel on an old Optiplex and installed AxeBCH for a BCH Solo Pool / Node

Ever since the Xmas Day release date there's been quite a few people get blocks, will chuck a couple of home devices on this and see how we go :)

Been meaning to do the same - did you follow a guide or is it pretty straightforward? Ideally I'd like to be able to run BTC and maybe even DGB or BSV on it as well.

My Nano 3S arrived yesterday, quite a neat little unit. Ticking away at 6.7THs now.

    Super simple on my end,

    • Install Umbrel
    • Add the community github link to the App Store -- LINK
    • Select what community apps you want
    in AxeBCH for example,

    • Add your payout address
    • Let the blockchain sync (about 250gb, took me a couple of hours)
    • Then you can just set the IP or umbrel.local as your mining pool along with the specified port

In the community link above also, there is his own BTC version as apposed to the one you can get directly from Umbrel, along with a couple of other ones

Yes I know that's a Bch win if I was doing that  but hooray for T-Club

Yea I put my second gamma on dgb to see how it wins. Got a block 1 day and 4 hours later. 274 dgb which is about $2 max.

would like to setup a bch with one of these other umbrel units. Do I need to sync btc or it runs its own thing? I am syncing a cut down btc on an old nuc but even at 40gb it’s taking its time. Maybe it has to filter the chain/blocks

If you follow the above it's its own community app that syncs the Bch chain and runs alongside ckpool, making your own node + solo pool on local network

Only took I dare say 2-4 hours to sync it and start mining (optiplex 7050 i7 6700)

I’m installing it on an old gigabyte brix that I have my btc node running on. But will install on other device. I actually wasn’t sure how to add the community link.

in umbrel App Store next to the search you click the 3 … and it will say give link. Paste the link you gave and it will add what you want. I also added the dgb and the monitor.

while I only have two bitaxe gammas and I cannot get huge th systems. I’d certainly like to dip my feet in a few pools.

I did see a bitaxe 801 2.4 the released. For $220 or so lets see how AliExpress go with it. I almost for fun might tack on a cheap nerd miner for the looks. I just cannot invest too much as there’s things we want. Pool heat pump and I’d love a second powerwall but hard bringing myself to pay another $8k as roi is already too long for the first $13k one.

$220 AUD? Those things are literally half a NerdQAxe++, so don't pay more than half NQ++ prices.

Hey Jaco I wanted to ask you about your Avalon Q, are you happy with your purchase, anything and would you recommend it, I'm considering using it for solar run off, and to heat a small room in Winter where a bar heater gets used anyway, cheers

I just don’t know about the Avalon. Some places are selling for $2700 and others under $1k. Obviously the later are probably scams.

Yeah too much spam on AliExpress from fake sellers asking you to communicate and pay off of the platform, I went through CryptoMinerBros myself, you can also go through Canaan directly or a local reseller like MinersRUs if that's your thing (though they charge way more of a premium and drop-ship it out of China anyway)

They're pretty good efficiency wise, though the FluMiner T3 beats it now (but there's no dust filters or anything on that and it's a little louder), along with no Central Management App for it (just basic Web UI access and configuration like majority miners are)

I haven't had any issues with any of mine, I can control Fan Speeds msnually through HashWatcher (iPhone / Android App Stores)

They look really nice as well, pretty modernised - won't look overly out of place in an actual home environment they're made for. They DO heat an area up though no matter what work modes you set it on, so don't think you can just run it in your bedroom or something. 1000-1600w of heat has to go somewhere

so i finally had enough of my gigabyte brix, constanntly overheating etc. bought a mini pc off these forums, had installed umbrel on an old nuc from 2017 which is slowly building upo the blockchain. however its taking its time. (i reckon hardware limited as ive discovered), just switched the hdd out into the new mini pc (hp g800 or so i think) without reinstalling and its booted without an issue and running, syncing 1000x faster haha. Lesson learnt. Now i ordered a usb to sata power plugs so i can run my 120mm fans infront of my mini pc and bitaxes out in the shed. Hopefully they work well. While the wifi works out there id still love another mesh access point for out there that way im fully covered and over compensating. The other mesh are connected with lan cable this one wont be.

Should have a bch, dgb and btc nodes, just need more devices to hash them, hopefully going to try and get a few more gammas
