One Silvia Two Silvia! So a few months after buying my one, I get given one with a busted boiler. Just my luck!
I keep trying to tell her that it's the "Honda Wing" motorcycle logo... She remains unimpressed, but forgives me because I can pull a reasonable shot, and it tastes good regardless. Z...
With a 7g basket? I thought they only took triples (24g) I've been holding off buying a naked portafilter as I'm happy with my double 18gm basket. Hmmm, time to buy a naked...
Weirdly I like this more than nescafe or whatever else work gives us in the tea room. I've been drinking it almost exclusively for a few weeks while tried to wean myself off 37 fat whites a day. I don't think it's Stockholm syndrome...
Does anyone else have a problem of spray over the back of the knock box? Like you knock the coffee but end up with coffee drops all over the place?
Yo can pretty much use any basket - 7g is a pretty small basket anyway though - I'd be willing to bet the whole bottom is not perforated. If you prefer smaller shots, I'd try and find the smallest basket where the whole bottom is perforated, you'll likely get a better extraction. Can't say I have, it's a proper knock box with the bar across the middle, right? Are you whacking it in front of or behind the bar? Are your pucks soggy? I know that on occasion, our pucks can be quite soggy, and that's just how it has to be for that particular been to taste good. I can imagine it's pretty easy to make a mess when it's like that. Otherwise, if your knocking with most of the portafilter behind the knock bar, maybe there's a bit of spray happening there? Could also be technique., if you happen to flick your wrist an during the knocking. Z...
Thanks. It was one of the coffee parts places that told me they only take a triple basket. They did themselves out of a sale. Otherwise known as a pressurised basket, which would defeat the purpose of having a naked portafilter (which I am jealous about now - especially as I have a Silvia also). Non pressurised basket.
I now have two Silvias! Boiler changover was easy as pie. I suppose I should sell one. all my baskets are non pressurised, otherwise i would have no need for my fancy grinder heh
New replacement has the removable element I found a boffin who modifies the older style boiler and makes them replaceable for about half the price of a replacement boiler about a day after I ordered the new style one heh
