I agree with a lot of this. For 1500 users in the financial org, pay for systrack/loginvsi to benchmark/profile - particularly if its lift/shift. Alternatively dedicate storage/platform to suit - 99.95% of VDI deployments fail based on storage performance. HCI (VxRail, VSAN, Nutanix, etc) works great here, particularly for building pod architecture. Infact if you're not buying infra - or don't have *high* end kit like VxBlock / NVME-primary storage and Gold/Platinum Ghz focused CPU's - probably abandon ship.

I'm genuinely skeptical that WVD can provide a great "power user" experience cost effectively as well.

110% - bench mark it, and use something like HCIBench to prove on your POC cluster that it will handle it.

I would almost say its pointless in 2020 to do VDI without GPU/NV Grid.

Agree - you will literally tear your hair out here.

This depends entirely on enterprise maturity and strategy. Sure a bunch of people are on the M365/AzureAD train - which removes a lot of traditional soe requirements, but many orgs are not willing to give up years and hundreds of GPO's - and VDI will be a good fit for them for a while to come.

We've got Grid cards, the take the Video Chat/Voice experience from 'woeful' to 'Almost Acceptable'

If you want your softphones to sound like an Indian Call center - it's perfect.

Also, factor in the the Licensing costs for Grid into your TCO, and it's rapidly becoming a very expensive excersize.

If your boss is on the VDI bandwagon as a cost saving measure, compared to renewing a fleet of phat clients, Run.

If Elon Musk tweeted it you would believe it. No difference between him and me besides internal framing.
