    I don't really blame you Eva, not yet anyway :p

    Ordered today for delivery Tuesday and Thursday;

    1 x Gigabyte 965-DQ6
    1 x Corsair ValueRam 2gb Kit
    1 x E6400
    Cost is AU$976.67, which seems to be a bloody cheap upgrade if the performance potential kicks in.

    Will have to see how it all goes together, a lack of 975x boards here in NZ for at least 2 weeks, or mid september :eek: for the Badaxe made the 965 choice inevitable.

    Okies, all installed, and up and running, the CPU Fan turns on for a ssplit-second when you power on and then turns off, it comes back on after about 5 second. Very off-putting when you have just set up the machine and are wondering what the hell you forgot :D
    The gigabyte cooler seems ok, however it wouldn't adjust, then I found the fan control stuff in the BIOS and after that was turned off all is good.

    The back of the PCB has a heatsink under the CPU socket, not exactly small, and it stands about 7mm high, it would have to be removed before an aftermarked fan that uses a backplate could be installed.

    I have one, running my E6300 @ 3.11ghz or so with the fan on minimum (almost silent) and its about 48 degrees when folding on both cores.

    Full fan speed would be 5 degrees or so lower.

    I got it from auspcmarket
