was gonna ask for either compensation or a future date to re-do the install using the ext. box on the basis that every other ext. box would technically be illegal now and run it to where i actually wanted it and not the quickest easiest path to install. i'll try anyway.

is it legal to run the external fibre directly to the internal box bypassing the external box altogether? surely not otherwise why wouldn't they just do that in virtually all cases?

    if it works, it works.

count yourself lucky you have fibre at all, most of the country still doesn't.

Our wireless NBN has been upgraded- took 4 days with net outage for 8 hours each day.
Night speeds have gone from about 8mbps to now 140mbps - which i'm super happy about.
Hopefully congestion won't return for a long while.

Too bad that much of the network is stuck on HFC.

At least for FTTN and FTTC there's a defined path forward to FTTP that is being rolled out. For HFC, it's only aspirational with the intent being to put as much lipstick on the pig as possible.

I'm so grateful for transcripts so I don't have to sit through a 6 minute video that could have been a brief post lol. As much as I'd love to scale past 1gb, my home network isn't ready for it... yet :D I'd rather see more affordable 400 up plans and better FTTP access for the rest of australia first.

I don't really care which party initially implemented the rollout of the NBN. All I care about is the fact that under the current party I have fast, reliable FTTH. Under the previous party, I had mediocre, unreliable FTTN.

So the current situation = A win for me, while the previous situation was somewhat of a disappointment.

I just want them to hurry up and upgrade my suburb. I get exceptional FTTN (100mbit), but I'd love to be able to go to 200/500/etc when the good deals come up.

It's been nuked, if you mean the political rant that was posted less than an hour ago.

Might as well just shut the thread down and make anyone who has a specific question re NBN to make a new thread.

Because yours and one other were posted after my warning, and I’m yet to decide whether I go back and nuke 2 pages of CE&SD bullshit - as inevitably some good discussion gets lost too.

It would certainly make it easier to delete and ban those that can’t follow simple instruction, but the last time it was proposed the majority wanted to keep the single thread.
