What I would like to do is compile a list of many different brands, versions etc of different 6600 based PCIe and AGP video cards.. Listing their differences, like clock speeds, cooling config and common pros/cons (such as maybe a certain brand of card has a bad problem with the HSF contact etc)

If its all cool to do this, Ill just edit this thread to prepare the list... :)

EDIT: Try the beta page at http://seti.gourou.tk/6600s.html

    Sample Layout:
    Xpetvision
    Model: GeForce 6600GT 128MB
    Bus Type: AGP
    GPU Clock: 500
    Memory Clock: 900
    VIVO: No
    Ports: D-sub, DVI, TV out
    PCB Colour:
H/W mon: <state if you had both core and/or ambiant enabled without bios change>
Cooling: <notes on your cards cooling> Single Piece covering Ram/HSI/GPU.
Comments: Generally the cheapest of the brands

How to enable temp monitoring on 6600/GT's Core, which dont have them enabled by default:
    Here

Looking for details on which cards have temp monitoring enabled by default, and if it has both Core and Ambient

Hmm, I think this has a great deal of potential. If you take a look at the Useful Threads sticky I've been keeping a bit of a database of threads concerning specific card models. There are no 6600s as yet, but with a thread like this for each 'family' we could then transfer those links over, so for each card you'd have name/specs/bundle details and a link to a thread full of user experiences.

Of course, it all relies on someone who's prepared to put in the time and effort to maintain it.

A few reasons why i want to do this is because im interested in getting a 6600GT, but i want to know the differences between each model and try and find out why some are so different in price etc... And im sure it will help answer a lot of peoples questions as to why brand A would be better for them over Brand B.

That XFX AGP card looks pretty decent. Saw it for around $350 somewhere in au
too. Dual-DVI mmmmm... Perfect for someone like me who wants the cheapest card with the best performance :p

is it possible to put in a field for noise rating. since i got my friend a albatron 6600GT AGP, i now know that vid cards can still be noisy and the buyer should be aware. thanks

edit: i spose you could put something in comments....so for the albatron 600GT AGP, please put it in extremely noisy with stock HSF

I suggest sorting the manufacturers in alphabetical order and perhaps using the code tags to force a fixed-width font so you can lay each card's info out on a single line (thus making it far easier to scan through), or even linking/embedding an off-site image or table (like Gamma_Goblin's excellent ITX compilation), though that might rule out links to model-specific discussion threads.

    Example:
    Code:
    [b]Manufacturer | Model | GPU | Bus | Mem | ClkSpds | MemNS | Ports | VIVO | Link | Thread | Comments[/b]
    Gigabyte | NX66T128D | 6600GT | PCIE | 128 | 500/500 | 2.0ns | VDT | No | [url]Here[/url] | [url]Here[/url] | Loud cooler
    MSI | NX6600-VTD256D | 6600 | AGP | 256 | 300/300 | 3.0ns | DDT | Yes | [url]Here[/url] | [url]Here[/url] | Huge bundle
Pity about the scrollbars though, and if you just use font tags it nukes the extra spaces, like so:

    Manufacturer | Model | GPU | Bus | Mem | ClkSpds | MemNS | Ports | VIVO | Link | Thread | Comments
    Gigabyte | NX66T128D | 6600GT | PCIE | 128 | 500/500 | 2.0ns | VDT | No | Here | Here | Loud cooler
    MSI | NX6600-VTD256D | 6600 | AGP | 256 | 300/300 | 3.0ns | DDT | Yes | Here | Here | Huge bundle

    I wonder if there's a workaround.

The Gainward 6600GT Golden Sample (not GLH) AGP is guaranteed to go to 540/1050 if my memory serves me right, but its not set at that by default.

The MSI fan is also very quiet, but i have no idea how effective it is as the MSI doesnt seem to have the temperature monitor enabled (or present)?
Installed the drivers off the MSI site, but there is nothing about gpu temp or whatever in the control panels.

Also the MSI video card software is the dodgiest ever, it is programmed in flash... i mean wtf? (not that i would have used it anyway)
