I guess this goes here now
lol "whats an intel chip doing in a mac, a whole lot more than it has ever done in a pc"
what a load of BS.
Where has all the years of Intel = Bad marketing go. What about Apple and their gigahertz myth.
cant wait until some more osx cracks come out.
they are saying its 4x faster because of thr quad pumping of the intel cpu's fsb
its just going to be great having mac on PC's
Sorry i did a search in the intel forum and didnt see any thing
No... it wasn't "Intel=Bad" marketing, it was "Pentium4=Bad". The new Macs are not based on the Pentium 4, but on Intel's latest dual-core derivative of the Pentium M.
Nope, not because of that.
This is from Apple's site: Its 667MHz frontside bus is four times as fast as the frontside bus in the PowerBook G4
The 667mhz FSB actually has a core frequency of 166mhz but Quad Pumped, the G4 is 166mhz FSB but not Quad Pumped.
Just like AMD, the FSB might be 400mhz but the core is only 200mhz because the FSB is DDR (Double Pumped)
I'm not disputing any of this.
You said that:
That is not correct.
Don't worry - i'm sure Apple have done EVERYTHING possible to stop OSX running on anything but their own x86 hardware
Apple are saying that statement (the new CPU is 4x compared to the G4) in reference to the FSB speed of the 667mhz fsb VS the 166mhz FSB. The Intel's Core FSB speed is actually 166fsb but Quad Pumped. Read this site:
Under the heading of "Huge Performance Gains"
DVD Decrypter Cracked the DVD Encryption within a day or two. Im sure if people want to run OSX on their PC's they can and will. If apple wants to take advantage of the PC market they can by selling OSX to be installable on PC's. If Apple doesnt, people will do it anyway but Apple wont get any money for it.
Best to keep it all together.. this other thread seems to have more going on:
