The new post pics of yer HT thread....

It is the box, and by vented I mean it's set off the wall with the back open so air can escape. I had a system of fans that I could of implemented, like the projector hush box has, activated by triggers, but haven't needed to use them.
Some more information on it is available here.

For the ceiling it's a bulkhead that holds the air con, lights, hush box and ventilation system, screen hideaway box, rope lights and the air return. Has many uses

@TheSly, lol the only thing I would change are the 4 port power sockets in the wall I would have gotten wider ones, looks like they cant hold 4 bricks in each? am I right?

My Living/lounge room is 4m deep by 7m wide, I've got a 55" atm but that leaves 2.8m on each side of the TV lol. I like how TheSly has the option to drop down the screen infront of the TV.

What is the ballpark room dimension for a projector+drop down screen setup?
I pretty much have a blank room to work with (besides the couches). I dont know if I'd be looking at an image that is too large given the room dimensions?

 

Is it possible in anyway to rotate your whole room 90 degrees and view the screen on the 4m wall instead? When we moved into our place that room had a window where the screen is and the left side wall was where the TV and cabinet were. The room felt small and had space being wasted on the ends. Rotating and blocking up the window was a great idea and has enabled the room to exist in it's current form.

For reference, my room is 5.3m x 3.8m.

 

I'd have to wall-up the dining/lounge entrance which probably isnt a good idea.

- Pioneer VSX 519 receiver + 5.1 speakers (full surround) (old setup from old house. Was $700 when I bought it)
- Mac Mini HTPC ($600)
- Ikea long low entertainment unit. (Forgot how much... but was cheap).

Australian dollar has tanked, so it's probably $200+ now. But yeah... motorised screen with RF controller (remote doesnt need to be pointing at the projector to work).

 

cool idea, i wonder if they sell projection screens that have tiny perforations in them to allow dialogue from the centre speaker to come through unmuffled? I've been told that's how cinemas do it and that would be a cool thing to do.

 

They sound better at the front, but look better on the sides, so took the pics on the side, then moved them back to the front.

I'm curious...where did you see them at the front?

I sneak in at night. I also thought they looked better on the sides but sounded better at the front
