    Hi, just going to use this thread for a quick question... Any newbie guides / suggestions / sites with budget ranges?

    I have at tax return to spend and a soundbar to upgrade from. Looking for 5.1 at a very reasonable price.

    Just to clarify as one persons reasonable price varies... what are you looking at to spend approx.?

    Without knowing that yet here's a few options;

    https://clefhifi.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=4125

    https://www.eastwoodhifi.com.au/monitor-audio-blimey-1-surround-speaker-pack.htm

    System 8 (or maybe 1) in this link;

    https://www.digitalcinema.com.au/ha...o-a-320-5-1-home-theatre-speaker-package.html

    I don't recommend these at all, but if you're after dirt cheap;

    Hey, thanks! Bang in the price range, $2-3k.
    Are any of those OCAU-friendly vendors?

    looking to buy this and wondering if i intend to output the picture to a large white wall, is there any difference between doing this VS outputting to an actual projector screen?

    Hey supasaiyan, I do this on a grey wall and it looks fine, but an actual projector screen reflects the image better, resulting in better image quality, brightness, etc...So it helps, but it's not necessary.

    If you've got a nice dark room it's no problem

    PS: I'm probably selling a projector soon that's probably better quality for around same price if you want to PM me

    Screen is better as the wall might not actually be exactly white or defect free, but imo a projector of that budget probably doesn't really warrant using anything fancy. The wall will be fine as long as it's a flat texture. Semi-gloss or gloss will hot-spot and be very poor looking, borderline unusable.

    A screen with a black frame makes the picture a little more impressionable, as it visually separates the off-picture light bleed from the picture.

    Also any tinted paint can throw colours off (though at that budget range you can expect colours to be a little wonky from the projector) because house paints aren't pigmented to balance out RGB. On a grey you'll find that some paints suck out colours in an imbalanced way.
