So we finally have a monitor (or will soon when it's released) that is what i consider to be perfect: 38" 3840x1600 Nano IPS G-Sync 144 Hz from 1:30 https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-38GL950G-B-gaming-monitor Take my money!
Nice unit! I guess the only thing I'd want (when it releases!) is HDR. Still running a Dell U3011 which I bought shortly after release but I simply can't jump to the currently exorbitant 27" 4k screens due to size (and price!) but it seems I'll be waiting a while longer...
Didn't watch vid, did they say how much money? Cries as I just dropped 900 bucks on the classic 27" 1440p gsync+IPS+144hz Acer X1 around 4 months ago... well its still a pretty sick monitor, but this new thing looks fully sick Consoles myself with the thought that I'd never get close to 60+FPS without selling a kidney to fund a RTX2080
yep, i want it. will be worth the wait. id be betting its about 2500 aussie when it first lands though. I also like the screen height over a 34 inch ultra wide. i find those a little skinny in height. this looks good.
I’ve never used an ultrawide but at this size I probably wouldn’t be opposed to the peripheral vision, at less than the requirements for 4k. Bring on the competition for Acer and Asus 27” 4k 144hz* panels!
I haven't liked the standard 34/35" ultrawides in the past because they're vertically too short - about the height of a 16:9 27" monitor. I also think that 32" is too small overall. I think this 38" ultrawide may be a sweet spot, where it's almost the height of a 16:9 32" monitor, but the width of a 40" 16:9 monitor. Also at 3840x1600, it's 25% fewer pixels than 4k and easier to drive.
What games are you playing where you get 144hz at 4k? I'm only just getting 60fps in bf 5 with everything on max
I have the original 38" from LG (bought at launch) and still love it. I don't game but if I did the new version would definitely be the one to get.
I second this. I second this re: performance, I can't even game at 4k and 60fps (Asus GTX980 Ti G1 edition) let alone get anywhere near 144hz. I currently have a 40" 4k 60hz, granted I'm not a huge gamer. I think the 'perfect' monitor is a 38" 1440p 144hz. The closest thing I've seen is the 31.5" 1440p 144hz which is what I'd be moving to if / when I sell this Philips unit.
Ugh! I have a 30" 1600p and there's no way I'd ever trade up 8" in diagonal and reduce my resolution as well... your 980Ti is severely limiting your 4k performance.
