Fairly sure Gsync uses the equivalent of LFC as well?

nonetheless agree, its basically paying the Apple Tax for 'it just works', I'm sure with the right research you could get a Freesync 2 monitor that performed just as well. For me it just coincided with absolute team green slam-dunk during the 1xxx GFX card era where AMD were inferior at every price point except the RX570.

If this was HDR 1000, this would be an instabuy for me. Guess I'll keep the X34P for a little longer.

    nope!

But guys remember 1000 peak nits is nice but isnt what makes HDR look wow.. its more contrast & High Gamut.. I seen 1500+ nit Samsung 4K HDR panels and the brightness is nice but in those small windows you need to almost squint especially if in dark room. HDR shines more when you get more accurate colors and more distinction between light and dark. Super white is still white. It's the darker side of HDR that's more important and why its OLED>VA>IPS and why the only TV's that compete with OLED's are VA panels.

IPS = poop contrast, avoid.. even with FALD there is never enough zones even the FALD $4000 panels look poop often, id turn FALD off If I had one.

VA without FALD = decent 3000:1 native contrast which is nice.

I have a Benq that doesnt even qualify for HDR400 but HDR content really pops due to 3000:1 & DCI-P3 95%.. see some comparisons ere

TLDR: In my non expert (but obsessed with HDR) opinion, you will have a pretty good HDR experience with HDR400/600 so long as the panel is VA + >=95% DCI-P3.

I don't want a high HDR rating for HDR, I just want a decent brightness level whilst using black frame insertion, lol.

I have the LG 34GK950F-B and I've been very happy with how good HDR looks with IPS.

I've yet to see a HDR1000 monitor with hundreds of zones in real life but those monitors are also insanely expensive.

I have a X27, think it has 384 zones. Generally looks pretty good but you can get a bit of a light blooming effect....

Not sure how many the x35 has?

Yes IPS will do the high color gamut of HDR but the contrast side lets it down big time in darker scenes.

I am yet to see a very good implementation on PC monitor, looks horrible on the Nvidia BFG 65" HDR1000 thingy. even the $4000 monitors with hundreds of zones bloom a lot, looks better to turn FALD off all together. Need 1000+ zones to make it viable.

If only the X27 was VA would help heaps, Rtings tore its contrast/local dimming to shreds :(

Yeah agree...even the new Asus Mini LED is only 576 zones, we are a long way off...

I wonder if the VA + FALD of the X35 is better in terms of blooming??

Any release date yet on this LG 38" monitor yet?

I am looking getting a monitor, but I want it to be big, I don't know if 34/35" will cut it for me.

I am currently gaming on an LG 55" Oled and love the eye candy on it but decided I will go for a proper gaming monitor for its higher refresh rate.

So what monitors out there can I get, must have HDR, atleast 100hz and g-sync.
The MSi optix mentioned above looks nice.

So some people are saying a VA panel is superior to IPS? What about the quantom dot nonitors available?

LG hasn't released anything, B&H in the US has listed what I would assume is a very loose September date.

I have had my eye on that BFGD for a while. But the HP Omen version did not get very good reviews.
