A Thecus NAS would help me with my storage needs by letting me put my shit somewhere.

Replacement for family storage, mainly holding a collection of photo's that go back years and the kid's movies (for streaming, avoiding DVD's wearing out)

I would use the Thecus N2310 as a media server. I looked at the Features tab on their website and was happy to see it has a Plex Media Server app module.

Replacement for my desktop storage, I currently use media drives in my PC, as well as an assortment of external drives, for all media and files, with everything I actually use on SSDs. Would be a big improvement to be able to store them somewhere else, purely to be used with the TV/over network.

    Gl everyone.

Extra storage is always handy. The inbuilt plex server would be awesome. I would use this with my media player, as the wifi streaming from my home network is currently not working well, which is frustrating.

I would use it as central storage for all devices in the house that can use external storage.

How else would you use a NAS? for mass storage of course!

I would definitely try and set up my own cloud storage on it to back up my work from the many PC's my family has, as well as family photos and of course, backup my PS4 save files for destiny

I would set it up for my mum. It would keep a backup of her laptop, pics and videos of her grandchildren, and her favourite gardening shows to stream to her TV.

    Hiya!

Awesome competition! I would FINALLY setup a home NAS that works seamlessly with all my families media and backups - and get rid of all my old portable drives with who knows what on them ;)

I already use Acronis so that a win already! Good luck everyone!!

tried the rest, now its time for the best
I'd have this bad boy torrenting on my new cable internet connection

edit - and energy efficient torrenting it would be too

14W torrent box with a cable modem and router on a "green" on-line UPS - the downloading never stops :)

Looks so cool and smart I will use it as decoration for my house (with my wife's approval, of course).
Oh! and also to store all my crap, stream my media and do all my nightly downloading.

I would use this to help make my life simpler and easier so i could enjoy doing what i want to with my family, this little NAS is fantastic, so many features packed into a small box!

I would use the RAID features to protect me against failed disks
I'd use the Web-based file access to share files with family interstate
I'd use the Bittorrent client for... Linux ISO's
The plex media support would be great for streaming media content!
My family would use the mobile media streaming features, wow!
and lets not talk about the power savings... there too obvious :)

Did mention it also looks pretty damn nice!

My Grandma is the only person in our family with NBN.
I would set it up as cloud storage for the whole family, she will always have photos nearby.

...I will call it the 'Gloud'.
