hi guys.. any tips to batch reduce image/file sizes from 4meg each to say 100-200k to email.. currently use outlook to reduce it but, the quality is quite poor compared to the originals.. so what programs out there are good to reduce file size and retain most of the quality.. thanks in advance
Batch them in Irfanview (or similar) at around 70% quality and 25 - 50 percent resolution? The end result is a compromise between resolution v filesize v quality - pic two.
Irfanview's going to be the easiest free method for windows users. If you're comfortable with the command-line Imagemagic will be faster.
Download microsoft's powertoy for xp Image Resizer Right click on file(s) and click resize pictures works pretty well, and I am happy enough with the quality. As mentioned it's a pick 2 of 3 situation
Have been using FastStone ImageViewer lately instead of Irfanview. Found it a hell of a lot quicker when dealing with 350D raw images. Faststone is a little chunky however when it comes to the app itself. Will resize etc and you may find it a little more friendlier than IrfanView.
Another vote for irfanview, Picassa is also handy with it's GUI and more user friendly (wife/girlfriend safe).
This is VERY handy. Just downloaded it and its great for a quick fix before sending a file via MSN/e-mail etc
Do you have a problem with the JPG's coming out of FastStone? For some reason, Windows Image Viewer can't read them and it says they have dimensions of 0x0. Also, the XP resize Power Toy won't work on them... It sucks, cuz I love FastStone and this is the only problem it gives me.
