A similar idea to the plastic dog kennel I used with a litter tray inside. The kennels can still be purchased from Bunnings (link below). I kept it in the corner of a spare bedroom with the bedroom door always open. I could hear my cat digging amongst the litter and some of the litter bouncing against the walls of the kennel. Every few days I'd lift the kennel top off and clean the litter tray of fecal matter using a litter tray scoop. Very little dust came out the front of the kennel and what came out was captured by an air purifier that I ran constantly next to the entrance of the kennel. There was very little smell. My cat used the kennel after I showed him the litter tray inside.

The cabinet from K-mart is the same idea. It has the advantage of looking like an ordinary piece of furniture however I suspect that the dog kennel I used might have been roomier. I wasn't fussed by having a dog kennel in a spare bedroom because I mainly used the bedroom for storage. If anybody asked I told them the kennel was where my cat did his business. The large version of the dog kennel was big enough to hold a big plastic box I bought at Bunnings to hold a bag and a half of litter in. I changed the litter about every 2 weeks. Bunnings sells the Breeders Choice 20L bags of cat litter I used. My cat was similar in appearance to the one the OP showed a photo of. I got him as a little kitten and had him for about 17 years before age caught up with him. I miss him.

It's a shame, our pets can comfort us when shit happens. What's happening with your car? Have you decided?

just a thought i had. where i live is very green for the middle suburbs. there's a tree right outside my loungeroom window and many more around it. always full of birds, tweeting all day long. and i mean most of the day. would that stress out a kitty? i know that you get them ekekekekek-ing at birds through the windows but that's when they see a bird once in a while. just wonder if constant bird activity might in any way be a bad thing.
