Starting a game in 5 mins on gameranger
lol tip noted.
I can't get it working under win7 64, crashes back to the desktop just before the map loads... A game this great makes me want to roll back and reinstall win98..
edit: Compatibility mode is no help
Mate mine is going great guns under Vista 64.
Give yourself full admin rights.
Did you set Compatibility on the .exe or on the shortcut?
did mine on .exe and set to win XP Service pack 2
In the settings part straight under I have only disable visual themes ticked.
Well necro post time...
We should really dust the discs off again. If you don't have the discs:
$6- DRM FREE
And I am very very sceptical about the following:
I always just assumed that Planetary annihilation was the "sequel" to TA..? Interesting to read about a possible sequel though!
Yeah, I've missed the TA universe. SupCom as good, but it's "universe" sucked. I don't care about aliens, human/cyborg factions, and "the way"... Save the back story & character development and I just give us robots, endlessly battling it out across the universe for no good apparent reason, damn it!
There was a good reason! The definition of humanity/sentience!
Well PA is getting made by the same guys that did TA so it'll be much more closer to a sequel to anything else
I'm playing the PA beta atm.. it feels like total annihilation on steroids!
There is an added level of orbital and inter-planetary conflict
My main base was being hammered the other night so I picked up my commanders and took him to the moon planet + moon = boom. forgot to pickup my commander so it was a draw.. whoops.
Naval, bots, land and air is practically identical to TA
w00t for resurrecting an old post.. how about one for transport tycoon deluxe?
OpenTTD is where it's at, and there is a thread that's often re-sussed every few months right here on the OCAU forums.
Dam 60$ for a game that's in Beta!
I loved TA when it came out and I bought all the expansions but 60$ is a bit much.
It will probably go up when its released December time. If you're not willing to wait a few more months for it to start being discounted, its best to buy now. I got in at $15 for the kickstarter. Trying hard to resist paying an extra $20 to get the beta...
For some reason I don't want to beta this game. Really want to start playing the finished product. Must be something to do with my love of TA/Supcom over the years... Don't want any chance of my opinion being tarnished by a bad alpha/beta experience.
I would wait, i have the beta and am not overly impressed. The game lags alot and crashes a bit. For me it seems like they have simplified the game further from TA.
I remember having the choice between TA and some game called "Starcraft".
Loved TA, the soundtrack the expansions the online downloads.
I remember just building a huge base over a few hours then demolishing the other side...one day decided to download an advanced AI, got utterly punished.
The alpha was ~$80, I believe they're intentionally over-pricing the alpha/beta to keep the player count down. As said before it feels very unfinished/buggy still.
I'm of the opinion that release date pricing will be around $80. Of course, I could be completely wrong on that one! Regardless, I'd be picking it up if I hadn't already pledged...
My brothers putting a lot of pressure on me to get it now. He's going to buy it, so I don't think I'm going to have much of a choice but to cough up more and get involved.
And it'll be a good choice
More PA time!
You can pick this up real cheap with expansions from GoG.
well, decided to give TA another bash since it turned 16 years old
launching it looked like I was on a 4 bit colour acid trip, nothing I could do would fix it.
After mucho fucking about- TA can only run with AMD's v13.4 or lower drivers....
AMD 13.4 drivers download
EDIT- yep using 13.4 worked. Too late for gametime:
Use this tool to un-install all AMD drivers and software
Going to give TA Escalation a crack. It's a total conversion..
