Should be able to see a partial eclipse though.. So eye protection is still important... I was actually looking for some eye protection too :)

Hopefully up here in Darwin there won't be clouds in the sky - I might be able to see it from the Wharf...

    Strongly doubt it, though :(

my solar film just came in, hoping that it won't be cloudy tomorrow morning here in brisbane. Going to cut the filter out later today and give the sun a gander:leet:

Anyone who can't make it to a proper vantage point in north qld can check it out on Facebook. Search up "Panasonic eclipse live by solar power" and there will be a live stream from two positions (ustream) Broadcast starts ~5am qld time. Eclipse happens at 6.38 qld time.

Lucky me i live in Cairns.

The hippies have arrived in the thousands, the amount of special cases this thing draws out of the woodwork is amazing to say the least, weirdo central.

I'm in Gladstone, hopefully will get a decent partial eclipse.

Fingers crossed the sun gets up over the mountain before it is all over

Oh damn so I'll see some of it blocked before I leave work and when I arrive in the city it will be max blocked.

I couldn't find any high shade welding goggles so I bought one of those panes of glass that's shade 10. That should be OK for a couple of minutes of viewing, might just chuck on some sunnies anyway, no idea what shade rating sunglasses are.

I'll be using my zoom lens and big stopper. I've got a 10" Newt downstairs however haven't pulled it out since moving. I wish I'd gotten on to it sooner and purchased a proper solar filter to use with the Newt, would have been great!:upset:

I was lucky I ordered my film yesterday and got in before the shipping cutoff

Put it together today and made a ghetto filter, got a good look at the sun and a few of the sunspots. Only got a 6" dob though.

NASA calculator to work out when you'll be able to see it (or any other eclipse):
    http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/JSEX/JSEX-AU.html

I'm on the WA north coast for work, so I'll actually see some of it (I wouldn't if I was home in Perth). And I'm going to be up at 5:24am anyway.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU- To see it at Sydney Observatory, apparently you had to book in for a 'tour' and their giftshop is sold out of the special glasses...

There's a store in Glebe that sells them, but they're not open til 9 >_<

It looks like pinhole projector for me...
