    VERSION 5.4
    * Updated Marvell/Yuken driver (June 14, 2005 release)
    * Updated Realtek 8169 Gigabit Driver (v1.05) - Unforeunately this still doesn't seem to work for me!? :(
    * Updated PCIscan
    * Added Broadcomm Nextreme autodetection for 0x1600 ID.
    * Added Yukon Autodetection for 0x4362 ID.
    * Minor corrections to the Menu's Network Card List.

    Yukon Cards should now behave themselves.

    In other news, looking good for having more drivers soon, as yesterday I managed to make another ~250K of free space without deleting anything off the current version. :eek:

    Error 53: The computer name specified in the network path cannot be located

    Very cool boot disk, Brad. I've been using it since November 2004 with good results however I'm stumped with something and I hope somebody can make a suggestion for me.

    I have a Windows 2000 Pro SP4 machine (not Server) which holds my ghost executable and ghost image files. For over six months this arrangement has been fine. I boot up one of our (nasty) Dell Optiplex machines using Brad's disk, it detects the card correctly and allows me to log in using my domain account. My "login script" just runs "NET USE I: \\WIN2KPC\SHARE" and has always worked without trouble. Recently I get this error when mapping the drive, though:
    "Error 53: The computer name specified in the network path cannot be located." I can still map drives to some Win2k machines on our network but no XP machines or this Win2k one. I'm wondering if some recent M$ security patch is blocking out DOS clients or something. This is driving me nuts. Anybody got a suggestion?

    By the way, I can successfully ping the problem Win2k machine from Brad's boot disk by typing "PING WIN2KPC" so the name resolution is apparently okay.

    I fixed it. All this time all I had to do was add the Win2k machine's IP address and computer name into LMHOSTS in the "filecopy" directory of the boot disk. Works fine now, even mapping drive letters to shares on Windows XP. Why? No idea.

    Worked great for me, had to move data from a disk onto my fileserver, but couldnt move the HDD into any other machines.

    RTL 8139 works great,
    RTL 8029 works,
    RTL 8069 works.

    Thanks!

    Code 53 Unable to find net workpath

    I am using a custom driver for a Netgear GA311 nic. It works fine. I can see a Windows XP box using NET VIEW \\MAIN-COMPUTER. But I can't see the DOS box itself using NET VIEW \\SECONDARY. From the XP box I can't see the DOS box. In MY NETWORK PLACES the DOS box is list in the workgroup list but when I click on it I get 'Network not found'. Any suggestions? Thanks

    If I'm understanding you right, you're trying to view the dos box's network shares?

    Hey Driver

    Just letting you know, your bootdisk does not work on Dell D610 laptops.

    The NIC etc are detected fine, but the udma driver that you load is not compatible with the Dell udma controller, causing imaging tools to crash and not see any drive partitions.

    Is there a way you can post a bootdisk that doesnt load the udma driver?

    Thanks
    Dave

    Version 5.5.1
    http://www.netbootdisk.com/download.htm

    After ~55,000 downloads of v5.4, I uploaded a new version the other day.

    Changes:
    * Updated Broadcom Driver
    * Updated Intel Pro 1000 Driver
    * Updated Realtek Gigabit Driver

    Not much of a change, but these updated drivers are required for some newer machines, particually laptops.

    Thanks for the update. As others have said I use this bootdisk all the time and its brilliant.

    One suggestion though, floppys are getting pretty old school these days. Can I suggest putting an ISO on your website? Pretty much no PC's come with floppys now..

    Once again, for the thread suscribers hiding(?) out there, after a year of nothing I have finally got round to updating the disk...

    Version 6.4 - 26 JAN 2009

    This release is highly recommended as there are many driver updates that are critical for any new machines. The complete change log is as follows:
    * Added Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 driver (adds support for Asus EEE PC)
    * Added Pro 100 auto-detections
    * Updated Pro 1000 Driver + PnP auto-detections (the most requested update of them all!)
    * Updated Realtek 8169 Driver
    * Updated Realtek 8168 Driver
    * Updated Realtek 8139 Driver
    * Updated Broadcom B57 Driver + PnP auto-detections
    * Updated Broadcom Netxtreme II Driver + added PnP IDs
    * Updated Marvell Yuken Driver + added PnP ID's,
    * Updated Atheros L1 driver
    * Updated Atheros L2 driver
    * Updated Xircom Cardbus R2BEM56G driver
    * Updated nVidia driver + PnP autodetections
    * Updated SiS 190/191 driver
    * Updated VIA Velocity driver
    * Updated VIA Rhine driver
    * Updated Build script ZIP.EXE - This should solve the random crash problem during the initial disk build process. When it crashed, command.com wouldn't get added, thus the disk would fail!
    * Updated CuteMouse driver
    * 3Com 3C940 LOM now auto-detects to use the Marvell driver.
    * Renamed Attansic references to Atheros (Atheros now owns Attansic)
    * Improved descriptions for many Intel/Broadcom/Marvell network cards, based on info from the Windows INF drivers. This is a purely cosmetic touch, but handy never the less.
    * Minor cosmetic changes to Menu
    * Minor tweaks to MakeDisk Script

    Have fun :)
