The pin has changed and I need to update it but first I have to enter a code. The problem is I put in my email address name@gmail and nothing goes through. On another PC there is no email from MS and I have checked the spam and not there. I have a similar email address and tried that and same thing ....no code messages

It also gives you an option to enter your password and I do that and then its the same enter email address to get a code ...farking hell. The password is correct because if you enter the wrong one it gives you the message.

It was the latest version of win11.

any ideas except a reinstall of win 11?

Where exactly are you using your gmail? On Windows login? Gmail is not a Microsoft account domain.

Wipe and install with a local account only.

Your microsoft account will be an outlook/hotmail domain but your gmail is probably set as the backup 2FA to receive a code with.

From my understanding one can create an account using any email address, so the gmail address becomes the Microsoft account login and verification codes come to that address.

Will S in BIOS, is TPM still enabled?

Maybe also try logging into your MS account from another device and triggering a new code that way.

    Thanks for the tips

edit: may still these as I am going to upgrade the BIOS on the Carbon 870e...its over 6 months so lets see how it goes

Well just did the update on the Carbon 870e and the code was sent to my email so I could enter a new pin.

This is not the Montech PC as having troubles with that .

btw: should you enable the x3d function in the BIOS ?

What processor do you have? It disables smt is generally not recommended as you lose in productivity performance

I tried it with my 9950x3d, it didn't increase performance.
