    Hey -

So because 'reasons' I have High Sierra installed on an unsupported RAID-O config in my iMac.
(I made the raid, then carbon copy cloned a working macOS to it).

That all works fine, but I can't update the core macOS.(it attempts, it looks like its done, it reboots, it hasn't done it).

So my question is, if I boot from a USB installer made with 10.13.1 can I just update an existing install using the USB?

Once it does the reboot, it'll have two separate "boot options" - One is to continue the OS X (macOS) installer, the other will boot into the old system and continue as if nothing has happened. Check it's booting into the right one... Booting off USB will give you the option to do a new install over the existing one but I don't belive it gives you the option to upgrade it (happy to be wrong)

Turns out you can upgrade - but it doesnt see a RAID 0 as a supported install desintation anyway. In the end I nuked the RAID and started again. :/
