My UPS package cleared customs and went 'OUT FOR DELIVERY' at around 4am this morning, and arrived at around 2pm.

So maybe it was a little late in the day for yours :(

It's marked out for delivery when they put it in the van.

UPS has a number of shuttles in every city that do specific routes at specific times. If your package checked in after the shuttle to your burb had left you'll get it the next day.

I know, I was chasing my 200L for two days around the city coz they delivered to the wrong address twice (I had redirected but somehow it didnt register in their system even though I had a confirmation email) In the end I had to go pick it up from their depot

I have a UPS situation I wanted run past the people here who've also had occasion to use them for stuff from B&H etc...

Short version: What does HUB SCAN mean when it appear after DELIVERY ?

Long Version: I've purchased several times from B&H via UPS and not had a problem before now. I get shipments consigned to my home address, as per B&H policy and then I ring UPS when it lands in Aus and get a re-direct to my work address.

However my latest shipment is causing me some concern. The UPS tracking information is saying DELIVERED and the name, time and date don't make any sense.

I rang UPS this morning (Tues) to check delivery progress as the tracking info still said 27/06/2008 8:02 DELIVERY REQUEST CHANGE MADE (as per below). They said I would be getting delivery Wed 2nd July. Then an hour later it says DELIVERED... on FRIDAY 27-06-2008 !?!?!. I rang them back and they said... have you checked the local post office ? errrr.. No, I had it sent via UPS, not postal service. Check with your post office. That was about as far as they want to discuss it. Our local post office is an MDC (mail distribution centre) that doesn't have a "front counter" or public access. Thanks UPS...

Then an hour after that call tracking info now has another entry "HUB SCAN" made today. Anyone else come across this, or more familiar with the intircaies of the UPS system. I'm hoping that maybe somehow my package has made it back to the Ascot Vale UPS HUB and may get redirected to me eventually. I've sent them a detailed step-by-step version of the whole thing in writing via email and will wait to see what they come back with.

It does worry me that it says DELIVERED with a name and date and time that means nothing to me.

    Thanks for your feedback...

ASCOT VALE, VIC, AU 01/07/2008 13:30 HUB SCAN

ASCOT VALE, VIC, AU 27/06/2008 17:01 DELIVERED :Paranoid:

27/06/2008 8:02 A DELIVERY CHANGE REQUEST FOR THIS PACKAGE WILL BE PROCESSED / DELIVERY TO AN ALTERNATE ADDRESS WAS REQUESTED

ASCOT VALE, VIC, AU 26/06/2008 20:18 DEPARTURE SCAN

26/06/2008 10:22 IMPORT SCAN SYDNEY, AU
    25/06/2008 15:15 ARRIVAL SCAN
    ASCOT VALE, VIC, AU 25/06/2008
11:29 PACKAGE DATA PROCESSED BY BROKERAGE. WAITING FOR CLEARANCE / RELEASED BY CLEARING AGENCY. NOW IN-TRANSIT FOR DELIVERY

Maybe it's bounced back to their depot after they realised they have the wrong address?

On a different note, anyone has any idea how long does customs generally take to clear the package?

Mine arrived at 12pm, 30th June. From the USPS and Auspost tracking it seems its still held at customs :wired:

They're fuck ups. Good luck and keep chasing them up.
Probably third time I tell the same story:
Last time I redirected something to work instead of home (and they confirmed this via email) they kept sending it home. Twice. And every time apologising over the phone because their system "didnt register the redirection". I had to go pick it up from their depot myself the 3rd day.

Their online tracking info makes sense until it reaches Australia, then it goes nuts with post dated messages, edited info etc

Try to find the phone number of their depot in Ascot Vale and ring them directly.

I wouldnt trust them to change a light bulb.

on a side note I ordered a fortune of stuff from B&H yesterday night. Changed my delivery address to my work address in their order page. Even though it says it must be your credit card address.

Got a confirmation that it's being sent out and is on its way this morning. Atleast I don't have to redirect it.

    Also, use http://trackthepack.com/track/ . It's more accurate.

I was talking to the UPS guy the other day when he delivered me a van full of stuff.

If it's a contractor, they have to mark it as delivered to get paid. If there's a hub scan after delivery, I'd say that the contractor returned it, marked it as delivered (so he gets paid) and then they scan it.

I had two great shipments coming in 3 days straight, and now I'm waiting on one and it's just floating around in Sydney somewhere for 2 days ...

Thanks for that nugget of info (and the other replies). At least I know I'm not alone in things going screwy sometimes. And what you said makes some sense. My billing address where B&H consigns it to is outer outer outer "metro" and very likely the domain of a contractor working on behalf of UPS.

As was also mentioned above, the tracking info when packages hit Australia is bizarre and confusing at times. Often my packages show as arriving in Melb, then going to customs, then going to Sydney, and then being delivered back to Melb. When I first rang to redirect (after tracking said it had cleared customs) they said it was too early to arrange and ring back the next day. Next day they said it may be too late. (thanks guys) But it was processed anyway. So I'm guessing it went out with the agent to the original address and was then either not delivered (although I had no UPS card left at home) or was recalled back to the "HUB" by UPS.

But I'm certainly going to try what Iscran did next time and just change the address to my work so I can avoid the UPS-re-direction-shuffle.
