Yet another early access survival game.. But is being received really well..

"A brutal exploration and survival game for 1-10 players, set in a procedurally-generated purgatory inspired by viking culture. Battle, build, and conquer your way to a saga worthy of Odin’s patronage!"

Looks fun. What is the deal with the lines whizzing past all the time though? Is it a wind direction indicator?

Yes, it is a wind indicator.

I have thus far played an embarrassing amount of this game since I got it. One afternoon sesh with the boys and we had a dedicated server the next morning.

We just got passed the third boss, Bonemass, which was pretty hard but we got there in the end.

I can't remember the last time I saw WAB recommend a game this strongly.

Survival game is well made, loads of content, plenty of PVE some very challenging - and lots of actual progression with boss milestones.
It brings lots of other survival game ideas together in a good way and it's lower graphic style allows it to be run on a wider range of PCs.
Doesn't even feel like still in E.A, there is so much to do and stable - more content is on the way, and a cheap price that is totally worth the money.

    I'm loving it.

    Some things that differentiate it from other similar games which I like;

Combat feels harder, heavily reliant on stamina, which is in turn heavily dependent on the food you eat (different foods net greater or lesser stamina and HP)

Repairing items is at nil cost of resources

Resources are more scattered and scarce. Games like 7 days have extremely large veins of iron etc, this game does not.

Base building is VERY nice IMO, very customizable but still has nice snapping.

You can take your character (and his on-self inventory) into any server you wish (servers & characters are not linked). You can also have multiple characters. This means that if you have a poorly generated seed or simply wish to start afresh without losing your character progression, you can simply start a new world.

I'm hoping that the graphics are improved in future updates but its far from being a deal breaker for me.

Also for people with pleb tier internet or hard drive space, tiny download, like 1GB - I grabbed it last night but am yet to play it.

I've been playing for the past few days. Just scratch the tip of the iceberg and am really enjoying the gameplay.

Group of friends and I have put in a few decent sessions playing this. Really good and enjoyable for an alpha.

playing it at the moment. Pretty cool game. Progression isn't as easy as a lot of other games because a bunch of resources are quite rare at the beginning. It's a bit frustrating at times, but I quite like it.

    I just saw your picture.

You might want to get some walls up, its only a matter of time before you get a random encounter with a couple of trolls to come f*ck your sh*t up.

I built a moat around my town...
By the way, copper ore can be patchy underground. If you collected everything from the surface, dig down and you will find more.

Heh, thanks for the tip. We're at day 315...

That base is Dragonholm, it's just a little outpost :)

Is this anything like The Forest/Subnautica?

I'm looking for a survival/chillout game for single player to scratch that itch.

I'm loving the Gothic/Risen style music.

Me and my crew picked this up last night and had a blast but I get the feeling things are gonna get very grindy once you try and push out of the black forest...

Surprisingly not, I'm not one for grinding. Gathering resources in this game usually means having some kind of challenging enemies and a plan so its pretty good imho.
