    A velociraptor in the hand!

I think I'll get a velociraptor or two now and by the time they wear out, then the fictitious, science fiction SSD's manufacturers keep telling us they have might just have materialised :D

I'll get one if they come out around $300US, but will highly doubt we'll see that price here.

i use to have my 2 raptor-x in raid 0, but use to stuff up all the time, its weird as, 2 seagate drives never gave me trouble. i just out it down to the controller not being able to handle them.

but 2 of the new raptors in raid o would be sweet:D

no point..you get that sort of STR with higher capacity drives, and as per always with the raptors you can afford double the normal desktop drives that end up being faster...

if you REALLY care about performence you go SAS in which the controller boosts performence considerably and has better capabilities for expansion.

Your missing an option on the voting. I have owned a raptor before, but I don't at the moment (smaller quieter pc).

But by the looks of the performance and the amazingly quiet (not silent, but pretty damn good) sound levels on the new velociraptors i'll be picking 2 up to run in raid0 on my system.

I miss the performance my old raptors (2 x 74gb raid0) brought to the pc, windows and game load times were awesome.

Looks like a good drive, finally a sata 2 raptor.

Play on words in the name is TERRIBLE though.

Where's the option for "I only heard about the drive this morning and I'm still thinking about it"

Haven't seen any for sale in Au yet, so it's not like there's a hurry.

I'm most likely going to buy 2 or 4 of them.

2 for my machine, and 2 for my media PC.

Or I might buy some quieter drives for my media PC, not sure yet.

BUt as for speed, I think these are the new king. Look at those seek times!

I've got raptor, but won't get the new one, 'cause it isn't really that much faster, and I don't need the capacity (only using 15gig on C:)
