Hi all, Used to be quite the regular here, but as such have dropped out of the hobby! I'm looking to print a photo and get it framed - where are the go to places in Victoria? I'm in 3072 with preference to closeness. Many thanks.
We tend to use Officeworks or Kmart if we need something, often there is deals doing on too. I've seen HN do 50 free prints from time to time for standard 6x4s too. These days it's mostly printed photo fridge magnet squares through some online mob. https://www.kmart.com.au/photo-centres https://www.officeworks.com.au/print/print-and-copy/photos-and-photo-gifts https://www.harveynormanphotos.com.au/
Photo Color - Kodak Express in Heidelberg They had a professional framer onsite, but haven't been there for a while so best check.
We have bought canvas prints from BigW... For the price they are pretty damn good to my eyes, but I'm by no means an expert.
There are always so many options but a few Melb based come to mind.. Thirds - http://thirds.com.au/ Brilliant Prints (They also have shops in most major cities) - http://www.brilliantprints.com.au/ Image Science - https://imagescience.com.au/services Hound & Bone - https://www.houndandbone.com.au/ If you arent tied into someone in Melbourne (no real need these days, although I do prefer a local framer) Atkins (Adelaide) - https://atkins.com.au/ Ink FX (QLD - I get all my canvas through here) - https://www.inkfxprinting.com/ Vision Image Lab (Sydney) - https://visionimagelab.com.au/ It's night and day when you get down to the fine art printing, quality canvas printing and proper framing over the Hardley Normal/Big W/Kmart print shops. This also includes longevity of the print and framing in archival terms for a long term period. It's worth the investment and checking out the options, the price point is surprisingly not that different.
Thanks for this! Yes i used to frequent Black and White and Atkins in SA; so will check out those 4 local listed.
I also do fine art printing btw, have done prints for a few people here too. I have a connection with a framer who is himself a photographer and does a bang up job (Moorabbin Picture Framers). Otherwise Thirds and Image Science if you want to go through a company that specialises in it which I've both had dealing with. The other one is Canon in Port Melbourne now do fine art printing. The lady who operates their fine art printing is pretty good at it, and they use the latest canon gear there.
People, realise this. Please. Printing a photo on canvas is basically equivalent to hanging up a "Live, Love, Laugh" sign in your home unironically. Friends don't let friends print on canvas.
