    Hello all,

Tax refund should be here any day now, and I've been wanting to get an LCD tv for ages.

    http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.s...k&utm_content=product&utm_campaign=PRS0006383

Just wondering if anyone has seen this TV before? I've only seen it come out recently so won't be expecting much feedback, but what's everyones opinion and experience with the 32" & 42" Vivo Full HD LCD's?

I plan to connect my computer to the LCD using a VGA cable, as I've heard VIVO doesn't deal with HDMI too well when the source is a computer?

Any feedback will be appreciated. :)

    Cheers,
    Andy

Over VGA you will most likely not get 1920x1080 res. That is the case with most TVs.

The TV probably overscans on tne HDMI input. Better TVs allow you to disable overscan and get a better image from PC.

all tvs ive tried support native res over both HDMI and VGA. with the right video card you can also adjust the overscan in the driver

While HD TVs support their native res over VGA a number of Full HD models don't. Sony and Panasonic are among those that don't.

While you can adjust the overscan with the driver it doesn't allow for 1 to 1 pixel mapping. It reduces the resolution slightly and the TV then scales the image to cover 1920x1080.

Whilst this result may be fine for movies the image is not as sharp as a monitor with 1 to 1 pixel mapping and text will not be as readible.

I ordered one online from Dick Smith tonight.

Free shipping beats picking it up at a store and trying to fit a 47" TV into my mums little laser :p

Will report back once it arrives in a few days hopefully.

EDIT: It's on backorder, so won't ship until next week. Oh well, it's cheap so I don't mind waiting :)

Seems as though they are no longer selling this on the website!

Please let me know how you go timmytomtam. I might check out the stores this week to see if they have any stock available.

    Cheers!

I passed by one of these TVs on display in dicksmith, picture quality didn't look too bad, but i didn't spend stop to take a closer look.

Now i'm thinking of buying one for the backroom and need some more detailed reviews, don't have too much time on my hands to compare TVs

HAd one for around 3 weeks or so..

the HDMI inputs when attached to my media centre, gives a black borders around the screen.. the VGA inputs works fine.

Little bit of backlight bleeding in the top corners

Inbuilt supeaks are too quiet and really poor quality.

At default the screen colours was pretty off.. had to do a fair bit of adjustment to get the picture reasonable.
Had a few times when the TV balnk screens when medicantre was coming out of standby.. nothing an on/off of the TV couldn't fix.

Otherwise.. its a nice big screen for cheap...

1980x1080 works fine over VGA, (onboard ATI 4200)...

I think that there is an adjustment with the ATI control panel. It is set to underscan by default.

Completely forgot about this thread sorry guys.

Mine got delivered 2 weeks ago and for the price, it's been fantastic.

Unlike above, my HDMI inputs are fine and the sound is definately loud enough :)

My MacBook goes smoothly at 1280x1024 via VGA.

Bit of backlight bleeding at the bottom corners of mine, but I only really notice it when the screen is completely black.

All in all, for a large, cheap bedroom TV, it's been perfect.

had the vivo 42" 1080p lcd for *months* now

    PC over HDMI works perfectly.
Out of the box colors needed adjusting.
Sound is TERRIBLE, but i use surround system anyway.
    inbuilt scaler is crap.
    inbuilt tuner is crap.

If i was to get pointlessly picky, the backlight isn't even, but I don't notice it in normal use, only if I'm staring at a black screen.

Overall, I am actually happy with it, because in primary use it gets fed in its native res 1080p, so its scaler doesnt come into play.

    Gah! If only I waited a week - $699!

47" for under $700 is awesome.

I've loved it! HDMI works fine with my media centre (popcorn hour A110). Loving it!

can someone tell me how does watching SD content goes with this tv?

I'll probably be buying it for parents to watch
    - FTA SD channels
    - component video from a SD satellite receiver

Can someone also tell me if it has a S-Video input?

    Thanks

    Has S-Video yep.

I am using the inbuilt tuner -- the SD is probably not the best? I don't know... but to someone that never has had a quality HDTV I think the quality is great! I am sure that your parents will not have any complaints.
