    G'day all,

Today I received an Intel Core i7-2600K for my benchmarking. I took a look at the box and thought something was a-miss...

And inside the box, I found this:

install the chip and check CPU-Z? the chip and box look correct, sticker may just be wrong.

they may be refurbished and created some fake stickers to re-seal. the cpu might be correct though.

Definitely a 775 P4 or Pent-D chip by the resistors on the LGA pad side.. and by the pads :(

sorry for the bad purchase TerminalVeloCD, report the fraud and try and get your money back.

    It's absolutely not correct

    its an LGA775/771 processor.

    Lots more :/

mate, he's not stupid enough to put a 775 chip in his 1155 mobo. dont even suggest it

    1155 CPU looks different to 775. That's a socket 775 chip.

alas, that would make it a vendor verdict, and thus against the forum rules.

why would they post incorrect hardware? They might as well post just the box. The user would just complain and file dispute anyway. There is no cost to the buyer (besides time) if done through paypal. So how are the scammers profiting from this?

I wonder how they fake the cpu slug. do they have a bunch of actual 2600k slugs or would they lightly lap the original and then engrave the fake text onto it

LOL you had me at the 'Dual Core' part.

I'm guessing with these fakes on ebay is that they're not worried about the feedback because they make a batch of fakes, put them on ebay, sell like hot-cakes then collect the money and disappear or make a new account later on.

Kinda sucks to get ripped off like that though.
