Hey Guys, Just need some pointers on some VM's that I have set up.

I am wanting to install 2 VM machines to act as web servers and also NAT clients of the front end server which will be another VM.

Now, on the 2 VM Nat Clients, what OS can I install for these?

What OS can I install on the front end server? Sharepoint?

    Thanks!

Thanks!! Will look into that more.

So front end and backend servers can run the same OS?

I have no idea about the Sharepoint stuff, but your question has no single universal answer.

I admin a core server which runs a bunch of VM's layered on top of the base system which acts as the primary back-end to everything. Similar to what you've proposed.

If you're going down the Linux path (as you've posted this in "Other Operating Systems") then it's really up to you. You have multiple choices; Ubuntu Server, CentOS, Fedora Server, Debian... the list goes on.

Essentially though, yeah front-end or back-end servers can run the same OS or different OS. Really depends on what options and configuration you're really targeting.

Sharepoint isn't an OS, its a product
Sharepoint isn't a web server. It's a software stack that runs on a web server
Sharepoint isn't Other operating Systems, It's as Microsoft as Microsoft can be.

What exactly are you trying to achieve here?

Are you doing this to learn and experiment? If so, great. If you are planning to deploy this sort of thing to a production environment... be very careful. You're probably out of your depth.
