Gday guys, looking to setup a website on paid hosting, but cheap at the same time. Just looking around at the moment, so reliable and cheap hosts links would be appreciated.

If you're not planning on hosting anything super fantastic (ie massive databases, CGI apps or CPU intensive stuff) then I'd happily recommend VentraIP's Deal of The Decade plan. $39 for two years.

It doesn't include phone support, but you get a few e-tickets a month which should cover you for almost anything - and their forums are great (I've had the CEO answer questions within a few hours - and provide solutions!).

Jumba and VentraIP both seem about on par. Will probably go for one of these, who can reccomend the better of the two? Faster

I can upload a file tonight and post some screenies of download speed if you want? My home connection is ADSL2+ synced at 21mbit, so I can pull downloads pretty quickly from fast servers.

ninja edit: can provide the URL so you can test for yourself if you want.

What type of hosting do you require, like space speed, applications etc?

Used Jumba before. Never ever again. Would not recommend them.

Bit of a mixed response for Jumba. What's bad about them?

same here i have my own with numerous domains and acompany i do work for that host a very critaical database and only issue i had was a server was acting up.
took one email one phone call and next day was moved to another server no downtime no loss so i have no issues with them.

i would keep an eye out for their deals though...makes it alot cheaper :)

I scored a free web hosting account with crucial and have dns registered with them. There an OCAU sponsor and I can highly recommend them.

Not 1 issue in the past 2 years that I have been with them. Great service.
